Hondas on crack , haha that’s a new one lol. The Hyosungs do have a character that isn’t compared to other bikes, you either hate or love it!
Sounds like you’re enjoying it so far , good to see it on the road (if anything , they don’t like sitting around in the garage looking pretty 😉 )
Yes, it can be blocked off. Click below for full tutorial
Sadly they do not exist for the GT650R anyway , so it is a custom job. Why do you need one ? Most people seem to ride okay without it.
Maybe the fuel pump is working but acting faulty because.
Or maybe the fuel pump needs a strainer (it is like a filter attached to it) is clogged with many particles.
If you have fuel that is E10 , throw it away and use E5 petrol because our older EFi machines do not like E10 petrol.
Also change the spark plugs one more time , and only use CR8E (sometimes old plugs will be problematic to create stable sparks)
The ECU is working , so turn the key on & off 3x , and wait for the “Red FI” light to flash.
When the FI light is flashing , count the number of flashes.
For example 10 blinks (pause) 5 blinks (pause) 5 blinks (pause) 1 blink = This creates error code from ECU called 10-5-5-1 and we can find this error in the service manual to tell you which part is faulty.
Keep us updated and welcome to the club
Can you get hold of a compression tester ?
Warm up the bike even with choke for 10mins max
Then remove spark plugs on both engines
Put compression tester on front engine spark plug hole => Press start to crank bike for 5 seconds maximum
Record the PSi reading from the gauge
And repeat this for the rear engine
Tell us the engine compression on both cylinders , i feel like it is best to start here first.
If the engine is compressing well above OEM specs , then it is easier to diagnose the carb next
if not , copy these instructions and have your mechanic visit your bike to do it first, and update us the results.
Side Stand switch bypass = Get electrical tape , cut the wires under the kickstand going to the stand switch ==> now join the 2 wires from the harness going up to the front tyre , and use lots of tape to waterproof it and avoid any arc’s or electric sparks/shorts.
Side stand is bypassed.
Let us know if it worked.
Clutch switch = Plug will be under the airbox near the left side of the frame , find a similar bike that uses the same clutch switch as hyosung , even an old Honda machine , or go to bike garage with your old switch , ask them to order you a similar switch for the clutch lever.
If you remove the clutch switch, check wires for rust and use contact cleaner product (it may be called a different name in your country)
Glad you fixed it!
Halogen is still good, tried & tested for decades. LED is nice but not everything needs to be LED.
Turn the key on and off 3 times in quick time , then wait for the FI light to flash or trick the ECU to give the error code
Download the latest GV650 manual in this forum (i will find and upload St7 manual soon) , I don’t know why i forgot to do that! Since i uploaded almost every 650 manual on this forum.
Generally DELPHI ECU on the St7 and Delphi ECU on the GV650 will give the same error codes. Just the dashboard is different on the St7
Otherwise, let’s try to diagnose it ….
– When you turn the key on, check these 3 items (crucial!) ,
does the neutral light go green?
is the clutch switch on the handlebar broken or still working ?
is the side stand switch working ? (or just bypass it by joining the 2 wires) – i recommend every hyosung owner to bypass side stand switch! Then you do you hear the fuel pump prime (whining noise) at all ? This is very important.
Regards
PS. I got your email, i thought it was best to respond here to see what’s happened to it.
Check voltage on the line that’s illuminating the other side of the bulb (since its dual filament) also check voltage at the switches.
Also turn the headlights off (remove headlight bulbs) , see if that helps.
Not possible with any of hyosung’s parts. Maybe buy a GV125-S EFi donor bike and try to retrofit everything in to the GT Frame (not easy but not impossible)
Stay with carb, EFI = more problems if things go wrong as they have a LOT (A LOT) of sensors!
Or maybe find some custom megasquirt ECU and learn to program it , and go through some trouble finding needed parts to make GT125 EFi (the effort will mean it is still better to stay on carbs)
Yes bypass it.
Also check clutch switch on the handle bar, if it is faulty , it will shut off engine once in gear (don’t bypass) find another common bike in your country’s junk yard, that uses similar switch as Hyosung.
Show us a picture of the connector and where it is going (trace it) , and i will explain what other wire colours do if you show us.
Regards

Is it steady or flactuating ?
F1 flashing 10,1,2,3 🙂 hyosung gv650 EFI
What year is the GV as it will have different ECU’s based on the year it was made and also can you see the error code on the scree? Eg. C45 on the actual LCD glass.
Aug 25, 2024 at 6:05 PM in reply to: hi, I have a problem with service error – P0850 – GV125S / GV125-S EFi Bobber #14549Gear Position Sensor (Neutral Sensor) = Faulty or broken wires inside
Or
Clutch Switch handlebar has problem (actual switch or wire broken inside)Also if there is power loss at 1000-2000 rpm = Does it idle okay in standstill or when you idle , does the RPM needle jump up & down ?
It might sound stupid, but have you taken the “Slides Off” (carb diaphragms?) , what if it revs past 7k, then the slides stick ? incase they are too scratched up (then its time for a new set) and also verify the mixture is around 2.5 full turns out each carb , and leave it there forever.
Test ride it again, to see if it helps.
And also try this free mod (Slide Tuning Mod)
Also have a can of carb cleaner, when she is idling and revving, spray carb cleaner around the airbox and intake pipes = Do the revs change ?
If yes , your airbox is loose
Or the intake O-Rings are shot , meaning as soon as lot of air is sucked in to the bike (full throttle), the slides hang due to excess air still passing through ?Like these little ones (if its a 2004, it is probably time to change the o-rings), like these you see here
Intake Pipe O-RING (Inlet Boot Seals) x2 – GV125 GT125 RX125 GV250 GT250 Hyosung
If we can confirm 100% the intake & carb side is all good. Then we can progress to the electrics.
As per Simon.
And also check under the radiator for the ignition plug , incase of corroded terminals going up to the ignition key.
Beautiful & FUN!! off roading machine, i think the trip was well worth it. I hope you will keep it for a long time because you have been waiting for it!
Here in UK it is also very rare now because stupid kids do not know basic maintenance., so they always end up in junk yards. I own one and it is being revamped for one of the inlaw’s cousins (better it stays in the family so i keep an eye on it hahaha)
I am a little jealous because yours looks in better condition than the ones sold in UK!
Make sure to strip it down and repaint frame and exhaust because exhaust is very hard to buy now. The mud in the fields can be unforgiving haha.
Welcome to the club!
Be sure to start a picture journal and i will follow its progress.
Keep her 👍👍👍👍
All black or livery-version of an SM = I would be cool either way 😀
