    Useful info there Marcel.

Thank you my fellow man 😉
I haven’t forgotten about EFi , was thinking of finding ways to replace their fuel senders and throttle cables and what not. Sender from a car is possible , i don’t see why not but cables may be from a bike instead. I will do further studies and testing at my end (unless i have someone to test stuff for me haha)

    Hope you are good!

I hope the mistress , has enough “zip” to make you keep her for a little longer this time and you have the best figure  (slim tail RC and old gen brawny face ).  Looks like an old ducati now 😉

With tools, nothing can stop you but dont get frozen hands cleaning her , as it is winter in UK already lol.  (At least in North UK with crazy winds and storms)

Will you marry her and stay with her ?  She is also stunning! 👍

Did you find any abuse ?   It looks like last owner was looking after it!  ( i hope i am right )

    Hey,
That is correct 🙂 , more like USB socket that is supposed to be waterproof and connections going direct to battery , if it has an On/Off switch, that’s good .  Dont test it on critical parts (like a phone!) , find an old power bank, see if the bank charges up well.  Then try some kind of usb device from home like a keyboard, fan etc… just to make sure they work as intended when bike runs also.

Just incase it isnt damaged by previous owner or there is some kind of “overspike” of current   (after all, your bike looks like it needs a new stator and charging system overhaul? ) – I would not know if he plugged something to the USB socket that annoyed the charging system of the bike.

Sounds like you should make a tutorial for your future owners who may stumble upon this thread for help too.

I am very pleased you got it going!

Time for a quick test ride ?

Good heavens! – Are they all Halogen?

If you make some kind of guide / tutorial, i will share this on UK groups online as the night time in UK is terrible with most little villages out of the city in full pitch black, and animals have free will on the farm roads we would not want to run over!

In fairness, i threw in the best regulators and stators i can get, some osram nightbreaker bulbs & call it a night!  (no pun intended)

Call me old fashioned but routing depends on 2 things, i try to keep it as simple as i can (avoid the rain as much as i can on my favourite ones so i have less chores during the week haha)

    Full wash

    • If its a GV or GT , i tend to take fairings off if i can help it,
    • 4 buckets  (2 plain and 2 soapy with automotive shampoo thats paintwork safe) or Traffic Film Remover products
    • Alloy wheel cleaner spray bottle
    • a yellow sponge is 50p a pop, so if it gets dirty it goes in bin, but generally used for wheels
    • wash mitt and go nice on bodywork , keeping in mind sometimes stones/chips may get stuck in mitts, so always flush it off
    • second mitt is used for rinsing
    • second sponge is used for washing off the wheels
    • Run bike for 5 mins
    • Let it dry
    • Apply automotive wax to body work so it gleams and some waxes can “probably” help with leaving a top layer of film protection until it fades off
    • ACF50 the entire bike (except discs & brakes!)
    • Run the bike, let the hot steam from the engine and exhaust burn off the acf50 but leaves a sweet smell & a shiny layer on metalic parts
    • i put ACF50  (in tiny dots) in to every connector on the bike to avoid electric metalic corrosion or oxidization
    • If wheels come off , their axles get  PUTOLINE RACE GREASE applied.
    • If i have stainless pistons in the calipers, i just use brake cleaner, then great the pins and back of the brake pads.

If the bike looks generally OK

    • Dash wipes every now and then
    • Black restorer & wax  (wet look on plastics) since my bikes tend to be black anyway
    • Wet wipes that are safe for bikes , wipe the rims down.
    • Grease the chain  (Motul C4 lub ❤)

I might have missed a few things but that’s usually what my routine looks like lol

Lady won’t even allow the thought of having it in living room over here, so it stays in the kitchen , that’s as close as i can get before it sits lonely in garage lol.  Though least i have eyes on it 24 since while on couch , i can see it right across the room! I feel you @greenie (Steve) 🤣

not sure if links work here but here is an identical model to the one i am talking about.

That would be the older SOHC model engine that’s in the frame i see there.

The carby rotor + stator are married.   Hyosung generally doesn’t sell the rotors on their own , they slowly removed references to order them , so we can only get complete assemblies.

Now it means if your EFi was working with EFi Rotor + EFi stator =  Take those 2 and put them in the carby motor.

The RT early models used a SOHC engine stolen from the older Cruise2 Hyosung bikes.    Then Korea specifically made an updated engine for RX125 SM & RT125 D (D variant) to use DOHC black engines.

In fairness, the DOHC engine is better for it 🙂

Hello Dave, I’m a new member too with an ST7 project bike that has just arrived today! Is that Perth, Scotland or Perth, Australia by the way…it was sunny in the Scottish one the last time I was there! Why not upload some pictures of your bikes…it is always nice to see what others own and ride.

Hahaha I’m definitely not in the Scotland perth. Congrats on the new bike. Mine are currently in pieces so not very picture ready. But will post one of when i bought my first gv650. I call it Betty. As in The song Black Betty.

Betty Black!  That’s her name 🙂  Thicc & big! & dark!

Absolutely stunning example of an ST7 (or GV700 if you will 😉 ) , the red colour really suits her!  (or puple if you dare!)

In regards to brakes, I was literally sorting an order out for a GV650 customer with the same woes as you the brakes were sticking, so i would recommend that “stainless pistons” (not fake stainless) will be your permanent brake investment , aswell as SS pins for the pads to slide around.

I notice the sissy bar , planning on taking passengers ?   – I do take my lady our on my GV sometimes but the torque scares her a little bit lol

I hope the starter clutch system should be an easy fix provided the owner already gave you parts and hasnt tried to damage the flywheel drum or crank shaft pole.

Have a look at the flywheels.  Korea is known to use delphi specific flywheels to go with delphi stators but…..  If both flywheels match. It should run.

Another hint is that flywheel may have 8 timing tabs on it vs 3 to 4 tabs on a carby rotor.

Thats why when i sell stator kits for 650cc i usually say up to 2013 & No delphi bikes.

Ironically 2013 is when delphi entered the scene too.  The plugs for stators change in later years especially on the 250cc variants.

For delphi = usually best to marry the rotor and stator together unless Korea left the old rotor inside 2013s and just made it run on delphis.

Ill verify this later on when i return to office to check 2013-2014 models

I also know 10000% delphi stators and older stators have different diamater sizes marginally (eg. 80mm vs 85mm)  expect timing sensors to change too.

Was the ECU Delphi? And all electronics have delphi branding on it

Or if you want post a picture of the ECU ,  stator of the wrecked engine and its flywheel.

It could likely be the stator unit compatibility with ECU due to fact certain stators want certain ECUs.

The stator and ECU are the 2 to talk to each other while cranking to make pulse timings

Then ECU primes the fuel pump and wakes up all other electrics to make flames (sparks) to get her going

The carby vs efi engine = purely the actually sensors on the motor to switch. (ET sensor , if its there on the head. Some dont have it.  Stator unit, NEUTRAL sensor (efi tends to have 6 dots on it. Carby gearbox sensors tend to have 1 dot or 5)

    Regards

    For Euro3-4

    • Exhaust system
    • Carb Jetting & Mixtures
    • possibly air filter but it could be the same as previous models
    • CDI unit (spark timings)

Adding to simon’s comments , check the “Caps” of the radiator and “reservoir tank” , for any damage , heat can sometimes “evporate” liquids although coolant has a high boiling point , it is worth checking since you said you heard some “hissing” on the bike.

On old GV125 (oil cooler model) in summer time , hissing noise was fuel tank cap venting to atmosphere to avoid lock up , this was normal.  (if i shook a tank on a hot day, i will hear hiss from a fuel cap)

Use “Motul FACTORY LINE” coolant for the bike, I always use it on my own bikes.

Yup, we already also have a long range of Hyosung cruiser manuals which are genuine without their “manulslib” watermarks in “manuals section” of the forum.  Can even save the PDF’s directly off our servers 🙂
