Description
Carburettor Carb Float (x1) :: Hyosung GT125 GT125R GV250 GT250R GV125
Sometimes carbs need a rebuild after years of hard use. A new carburettor float is a key part of that overhaul process to keep fuel levels correctly regulated inside the carb bowl.
If you’ve bought a carburettor secondhand or from a private seller and it’s missing the float, don’t worry — we stock these floats on a limited-run basis to help you complete your restoration or repair job properly.
A well-functioning float ensures the fuel level inside the bowl remains steady, preventing flooding or fuel starvation — both of which cause poor running, hesitation, and hard starting.

Install Tips & Advice
Replacing the carburettor float is a straightforward yet important step when servicing or rebuilding your carb. The float controls the fuel level inside the bowl by rising and falling with fuel, opening and closing the fuel inlet valve (needle valve) to maintain a consistent fuel level. If the float is worn, cracked, or damaged, fuel levels can become inconsistent, leading to flooding, poor running, or fuel starvation.
Before reassembling your carb, it is critical to check and adjust the float height to the exact specification (usually about 7mm for most Hyosung carbs). This small gap ensures that the fuel cuts off at the correct level inside the bowl. Too high and the carb floods; too low and your engine starves for fuel. Always measure with a ruler or caliper and bend the float tab carefully if adjustment is needed.
Be mindful that the float needle valve is a separate part and must be inspected or replaced if leaking. If your carb is missing the needle valve, we recommend purchasing a full carb rebuild kit from our shop, which includes all gaskets, jets, and the float needle valve to ensure a perfect rebuild.
After installing your float and needle valve, reassemble carefully and double-check all seals to prevent leaks. Test the carb on the bike for any signs of flooding or fuel starvation. Proper float operation is key to smooth idling, crisp throttle response, and overall reliable performance.
If you’re interested in tuning your carburettor for optimal performance, our community forums have extensive guides on needle jet tuning (lean vs rich mixtures) and jetting DIY for power improvements.
