It sounds like your shock is gone, make sure you sort it & be careful, suspension problems are rare but do happen.

Your going to have to look for burnt wires, I’m almost certain that the rectifier has gone & most likely the stator this would have been the burning smell. It could well have caused over voltage which would have damaged other things. Look under the seat for 3 yellow wires & start there.
Check the charging system of the bike.
It’s a newer disc nothing to worry about, it just adds an extra layer of caution. Back when I used to do that sort of measurements I would measure 4 points to get an average but the problem with that is if someone doesn’t realise that & just measures one bit it could be ok but another area is compromised so making a larger safety margin is a good thing.
I would add you can get cables from Wemoto they are a proper shop & having purchased in the past they are perfect in fitting & size
Have you tested it?
Well it’s going to be a fuel injection one I assume, with the stator burned out the rectifier is almost certainly toast until that side is sorted it’s going to be a nightmare, if the voltage isn’t correct then the ECU will just play up.
Hi there
Jul 5, 2025 at 1:15 PM in reply to: Can You Parts Swap Between Suzuki SV650 and Hyosung GV650 ? #19917A lot of the bits are the same the early gt250efi uses coils from the sv650, a master cylinder is a master cylinder it’s really just a case of the mounting points
I’m not a fan of the lithium batteries being fitted to bikes that don’t have them as standard they require a slightly different charging setup, one of the things to check is the coils & if standard the plug caps which at that sort of age can cause all sorts of problems.

Hi there
