A metal gasket for the cylinder heads  (valve heads / rocker heads) will be needed if you are:

• Leaking oil internally or externally (this is known as head gasket failures)
• Old gasket cannot be used again after valves cleaning / piston de-carbonizing
• You bought the bike but the previous owner or bad garage has used a cheap messy RTV job shortcuts and you want to use a “proper” gasket. 
• Going through an engine overhaul job / refreshment
• Replacing the cylinder head if the old one has failed. 
• Low compression issues due to bad cylinder gaskets
