Hi Leo, Hope you enjoy your bike, I have one the same and love it. I’ve changed the tyres for rubber ones( much lighter too!), a max torque can(again lighter)as the original is really heavy. I also changed the plugs for iridium ones , coil packs, leads and caps(all from Marcels website) and she runs much sweeter. A 520 chain and sprocket set is also good as is the upgraded fuel lines and bigger filter set also from Marcel. Motul ester oil will also keep your engine and gearbox sweet. I’ve also fitter a rear hugger and front fender extender to keep her clean. I find the engine needs warming up gently for the first few miles on choke before using more revs. I bought mine new in 2019 and 6yrs and 6000 miles later she runs better than ever. The swingarm and all the frame has been regularly coated with ACF 50 as these parts can corrode over time(especially if you ride in the wet or over winter). I hope this helps you Leo.
All the Best, Dave.
Beautiful, enjoy.
It is the one in pic and I’m glad you like the look of her. I believe you can get a 250 and 650 version that looks the same.
Hi, I’ve had my Gt 125rc for almost 4 yrs now and still love it. No whistles and bells to go wrong , no tft screen, start her up and go! Most of the comparable jap bikes are £5000 + nowadays! When I go to bike nights mine usually gets more attention than the other 125’s and I have had so many nice comments about her and people not believing that it’s a 125. I would definitely buy another Hyosung .
Well done David, She looks great, hope you get many happy hours enjoying the fruits of your labour .
Hi Andy, Wow you have certainly had the run around from both DVLA and the dealer. Surely DVLA or dealer must have the copies of the original documents sent to them to get the number plate issued. Failing that I might try another dealer that sells the current Hyosung range as they must have contact with the Korean company for spares, sales info and service requirements etc. I know many dealers were offloading their old stock of these bikes due to new emission regs etc. I got my bike at a great price because of this. As stated earlier I know that separate emission tests had to be carried out on my bike because it was only euro 3 and euro 4 regs were already in place before DVLA would proceed with registration. Hope you get there soon, Dave.
Hi Andy, Just a question, how come if the bike was bought new that the dealer didn’t register it for you and complete the documentation before handing it over? My bike I gather is a 2016 model ( gt125 rc ) new unboxed at point of sale but was registered by the dealer ( Millenium Motorcycles )and delivered taxed and ready for the road with a 19 plate. Can the dealer who sold it not provide the details you need? All the Best, Dave.
Hi Andy, I bought a new gt125rc late july 2019. I know that when unboxed and assembled it had to be emission certificated and registration took about 3 weeks to complete by the dealer. It was given a 2019 plate at registration and was delivered late august. I was told that euro 3 bikes needed this process.
Hope this helps, Dave.
Hi Tom, If you can get 80 mph out of the bike it’s not running too bad! Is this when bike is cold as they need full choke to start and take a while to warm up anyway? Mine has always done this from new and has only ever been run on super unleaded( well worth the extra pennies!) Hope this helps, Dave.
Hi Arne, Like you i’m also an ” old fart”with a 2019 model GTR125. I’ve fitted the 520 kit and also the uprated coil packs and bigger fuel filter kit. My bike will cruise at 60 mph and will easily top 75 mph and i’m not a lightweight ( 15.5 st). I would also recommend changing the tyres to some decent rubber ones! I’m really pleased with my bike and 3yrs on still enjoy her and hope you have the same experience with yours.
Hi John, When you start the bike do you use full choke as mine needs it to start even in warm weather(and for the first couple of miles). My exhaust started to colour up too but I changed it for an end can so I can’t say what would happen after a few months, I think that’s normal. My bike has run great for the last couple of rides with no more losing power episodes so I haven’t tried anything else yet. Maybe Marcel or other more experienced owners may have some thoughts on what causes these? All the best, Dave.
Hi again John, What a coincidence my bike has done exactly the same thing twice recently! She only did it after a spell of 60
-70 mph running. If it helps my bike has upgraded coils, plugs and caps and a pipe and has only ever been run on super unleaded from bp so cheap super market fuel not to blame. I also use liquimoly carb cleaner every third tankful. I have the flatspot on the overrun too. My guess is a vapour lock or something similar and i may replace the fuel filter. I gather 2015 was the last year the model was produced so that would explain the tyres as many bikes were not sold till much later(mine is 2019 reg) and I noticed cracks so changed them as the originals are lethal in the wet! Apart from longer higher speed runs recently mine performs perfectly and three years on I still love it. Just to add I did a 50 mile higher speed run last weekend and the bike was faultless!
Hope this helps, Dave.
Hi John, Welcome to the site. Glad you like the bike and hope she gives you a lot of pleasure. I bought the same model new in 2019 and still enjoy every ride. With good maintenance and care i’m sure you’ll enjoy many happy miles on her. You didn’t mention what the glitch was though?
All the best, Dave.
Hi, Hope it’s a well cared for bike, I have one and love it!
Hi Sean, Good to see you found the site and welcome. Your bike looks lovely. I have exactly the same model that I bought new in 2019 and she now has 3400 miles on the clock. I have also fitted a few extras and found that it was better to do some of them together to save time. I had the iridium plugs, coil packs and condenser caps fitted together as the tank has to come off for access to the rear cylinder. The difference is immediately noticeable and transformed the engine. All of these items were bought from Marcel’s shop on this site and fitted perfectly. I use ACF 50 regularly to keep her looking like new and change the Motul oil and filter every 1000 miles. If you are going to ride in the wet a new pair of quality tyres would be a good idea as the stock ones are not great. I gather ours are the last of this model. I hope you enjoy riding the bike as much as I do and she performs as well as mine has.
Hi David, Very nice, the seat and panniers look good and suit the bike. Hopefully the weather will be kind and you can get some miles on her over the winter. Are you going to use the bike for commuting etc or just pleasure?
Very Nice, the weather is ok @ the moment so hopefully you’ll be able to get out and start running her in.
Yes, I feel the same and you’ll have run the new bike in by then and be all ready to go!
The bike looks great! Real big bike looks and a v twin as well. I’m sure you’ll treat her well and get many years of riding pleasure.
Hi David, I have seen quite a few reviews on the model you’ve bought and to be fair they all say that its a good, honest bike for the money. Yours is fuel injected so no carb issues etc. I bought my GT125R new two and a half years ago and love it. A bit of tlc and a fair bit of ACF50 have kept her in as new condition and running sweet as a nut. If I had the choice I would buy the same again. Lets hope your fears are unfounded and you get years of pleasure from yours.
