I got my license on the 1st November 2022 and got my 2016 GT250N on the 3rd. i have been riding trough the winter and so far i couldn’t be happier. i expected a cheap troublesome beginner bike that could get me from A-B for a year. but i got a fun and beautiful bike that treats me well.
originally i wanted to buy a “main brand” after using this as a starter/learner. but now i have been considering upgrading to a Hyosung GT650 later this year.
so my questions to all of you. would you stay in the Hyosung brand for your next bike?
and should i upgrade to a 650, stay with the 250 or run to a different brand? -

If the GT250N is working well for you, stick with it!

you wouldn’t recommend switching to a 650? im curious as to why 🙂

If you need more torque, than a 650 would certainly provide that. Hard to beat an SV 650 Suzuki then…………………………

i just had a look on the used market after you said that…. sv650 is about the same price. only real difference i see is the age. (sv 2008, gt 2016 og equivelent age gap)
i might have to keep an eye on those

If the Hyosung 650 gets tuned right, it will beat the Sv650 , (funny cause they use similar motors but not the same at all!) = Suggests that SV & GT & GV were made near the same plant lol.
GT/GV = Prettier looking by asian standards but the Suzuki do have their own bikes that also look good!
I’ve had a rieju (fully spanish made) , kawasaki and Suzuki GS500 bikes but the hyos have & still are the longest brand i’ve kept, i must like them haha. I’ve not really desired to jump on to the likes of the R1 Yamahas and what not , but i do like their old style R6 bikes.
Honestly, call me old school, i’ve grown to like the looks of the hyos and yet if someone shows me a 2022 bike of another make , i’m not too keen on it.
Do you want more power ? Otherwise the 250 seems zippy enough for you ?
Stay in Hyosung so you can’t be one of the “few chosen” to be on dark side , than a common sea wave of yamaha riders.
Excuse my grammar above ( hyperactive fingers on the keyboard sometimes!)

i agree with the looks. Hyosung make/made incredibly pretty bikes. my gt250 is a head turner even with experienced riders.
the gt650 does look a bit better then the 250. (i think its the dual frame tubes on the side i love) and the sv650 is not even close imho. its a very simular bike but there is just something special about the Hyosungs.i have been wanting to get the acceleration of a bit bigger bike. but maby when i get and install the chain kit and clutch i ordered from you i will have the extra bit i feel lime im lacking.
the only real issue i have had has been the parts availability, you do amazing stuff with the kits and such. but i dont have any legit EU sellers so i have to deal with the import and tax fees. plus its hard to know what after-market parts fit on the Hyosungs… i have been wanting new leavers and such, but its hard to know if they are compatible.

Hi, I’ve had my Gt 125rc for almost 4 yrs now and still love it. No whistles and bells to go wrong , no tft screen, start her up and go! Most of the comparable jap bikes are £5000 + nowadays! When I go to bike nights mine usually gets more attention than the other 125’s and I have had so many nice comments about her and people not believing that it’s a 125. I would definitely buy another Hyosung .

It is the one in pic and I’m glad you like the look of her. I believe you can get a 250 and 650 version that looks the same.

I know since leaving the EU , the UK export system is a bit crazy lol , but if we can use DDP, we will do it. Otherwise most EU countries i ship to seem to pay low taxes for DDU parcels.
Levers = Send a picture of your master cylinder, so that i can see how thick your lever is (especially when it goes inside the master cylinder) , that will confirm if i can get levers to fit inside the master cylinder

i will take a pic when i change the breaks (hopefully arriving tomorrow)
but what about replacing the entire master cylinder and leavers in one go. is that feasible or fantasy?

Sometimes Korea will fit a 650 master cylinder and use a stock lever but sometimes it will come from a 125cc because the original Naked bikes (125cc and 250cc) were always single disc.
The GV Aquila always had the same master cylinder both 125 and 250cc variants
Your pictures soon will help confirm what we have to deal with 🙂
