This is a standard air filter cleaner element that is replaced during regular service intervals between 5,000-10,000 miles (ish).  An optimal Hyosung requires the filter to clean particles before they enter the engine and maintain air flow.

Tip: An old dirty air filter is also the cause of a poor mixture in the piston chambers , because the air is flowing less. (Air vs spark vs fueling).  Usually a filter shows signs of needing replacement when you notice it has gone very dark , dirty  or the mileage has gone high such as beyond 10,000 miles at the very latest.  Because the carby hyosungs are known to complain when the intake system isn’t good, the carb starts to act funny (again? mixture is air vs spark vs fuel) , so in tandem a bad air filter will make your plugs very sooty soon.  The bike doesn’t ride as well as it should either in accel. or sprinting in top gear
