Just been out for a lovely evening ride and its all working fine now. Strange but nevertheless problem has gone!
Glad it’s working out okay!
Hey when you get time, just make sure all connectors on the bike are clean and use a tiny drop of ACF50 inside each plug, that will ensure the plugs stay good and prolong their life (metal oxidization is still a thing on bikes)
Ride easy!
Hey,
Thanks for sharing the video. My reply will be split in 4 parts. I would do 1 part at a time, so that you can see the mood changes.Part 1
I assume you have or his has found the upjet tutorial on this site ? Use that to make sure the carb has right jets.Once the carb has right jets (especially pilot ones)
Set fuel mixture to 3 full turns out each & leave it there forever (not matter what ever issue comes up in future) , it is the same reply from Korea for users not to touch mixture screws. So once that is set…. Make sure the black bungs hide them , if they get lost, we have loads at the shop. Cheap little things but saves a whole lot of drama in the long run.
Make sure “Slide Needle” is middle groove (OEM) or “Last Groove” towards pointy tip
Tutorial here[Tutorial] How to adjust Carb Slide Needle (Tuning) – Hyosung GV & GT 125/250
Next, can’t stress this part . Get access to air compressor (as per service manual) , remove all jets ==> Blow them hard. “Rattle Can” cleaners don’t always penetrate enough to remove the last microscopic debris.
Or
Have the carb ultrasonic cleaned & THEN air compressor.Believe me, it will be immediately obvious it’s happy with the result.
Fuel Pump = It is rare it fails but can happen, so the carb doesn’t get the juice.
Float Height = It must be 7mm when carb is upside down (floats facing the ceiling of your garage) , not less , not more. Dead on 7mm.
If in doubt, replace the gold parts under the floats = They control how much fuel comes in. Pilot Jets are shorter, so they can’t always reach if fuel level is too low or floats jammed or if the bike always has intake manifolds wet inside ===> Don’t ride it as it will be hydrolocking (floats jammed and fuel is just pouring in to oil) could cause many many many many issues later down the road. So i dare not digress!
Part 2 = Air System.
Check vacuum for leaks on pipes.
Check INTAKE manifolds = “don’t matter how small the leak is” , it will straight cut off. The Hyosung Black 125 Engines are actually more difficult to crank & run if they don’t like the conditions under the hood.
While running ==> Spray carb cleaner at the intake boots or EASY start (Yellow Bradex Can!) , if revs change then you have a leak.Replace INTAKE Manifold “O-RINGS” ,if the pipe is good, but somehow there is a leak, it will be the o-rings under the intake pipes being caked up.
If you have never removed intake pipes from the bike, please take extreme caution for removing the rusty torx bolts used by Korea and replace them with stainless steel of the same length. You don’t want to spend days drilling out a seized bolt lol.
AirBOX = Spray “the airbox” rubbers that swallow the carb mouths. If the revs change, then airbox wasn’t fully sat down properly.
Best installation ? ==> Carbs on the airbox and tighten hard (but gently?) ===> Then drop them on to the intake pipes. This ensures no leaks at airbox rubbers and protects your intake pipes from pressures that will cause splits when trying to fit carbs on to them , then the airbox etc…. New Ones not made anymore. Korea stopped.
Air Fikter = If its beyond 10k miles old or is looking tatty inside and outside, replace it. Let her breath freely.
Part 3 === LECCY SYSTEM
Spark Plugs = Don’t use IX Iridiums (BLUE BOXES), they don’t like em. So only use “Laser Plugs” or Stock CR8E
If a mechanic says use Cr9 or Cr7 = Don’t trust them with your bike.
To cool a Hyosung 125GT more when it overheats ====> Upgraded to a GT250 oil cooler. It loves them coolers. They are way bigger & bolt straight in.Coils = Ask your dad to make sure “primary” & “secondary” resistance of the coils are in spec.
ie. HT wire to Coil Ground = 6,200 ohms & Terminal Pin to coil ground = 0.05 OHM (less than a single Ohm)If in doubt (also common) = Replace HT caps to NGK Caps that have red NGK Factory wires attached and pimp the actually black coils. Common upgrade items after the plugs.
I will assme regulator is 14v idling and 14 at 5k revs = as per Korea. The manufacture says to replace reg if you get 12.x V readings in any revs or even your batter dying out could put a strain on it.
Test stator unit = ALL SPARKING starts from this unit. It is dual Purpose unit.
Pick Up Coil = Inside Stator => 80-120 ohms overnight ice cold.
Charging Element of stator ==> 0.7ohm overnight ice cold.Part 4 (Final war, i hope you don’t end up here!)
– Check compression of the cylinders and tell us the psi each head is making after engine is cold.
DO PSI checks when BOTH plugs are out and FULL throttle.– Valves too tight = Clearances overdue (to be done every 4k as per korea service manual)
Hey,
Can you possibly try again as if its “1___11____1___11___ That would be a C12 in the service manual for example, there is usually one long blink first, unless you mean it’s a C18 code for sure ?If in doubt, check out the service manual for the EFi bikes that’s been uploaded a while back at “Manuals Section” of this forum, if not, just let us know and ill reupload but i believe the links should be fine.
All the best!
Thanks for sharing, we need more user-generated help topics like these.
i’ve Shared on FB for you too.

Dark Baauty!
I appreciate that Marcel and it wasn’t a dig, I just wanted you to know I’d looked here first. thanks for the advice.
You are totally fine ❤
If you struggle to find someone locally to fabricate such, speak to Connor Green from the group too he rides a hyosung too & works with metal for his business i believe now. If not, send a PM , i will link you to his private profile of his FB
Failing that, ring startrights Leeds tomorrow (oldest hyo dealer) and let em know i sent you, you may speak straight to shop owner , if i can get anything, so can he or he may have some old ones hanging about.
Failint that, another recommended UK Dealer/Shop is “TNORTHEAST UK” , they should have access to SinnisSo we have some options but if above ^ is no good, let us know.
Do you have access to a local welder that can fabricate some steel tubes, as i’ve seen some nice custom work done years ago to a GV , but can’t remember the guys name.
I would caution to certain sites as they always hit & miss.
Europcustom seems OK , as i’ve got 2 guys who made orders for racks and crash guards for the newer slim GV125 bikes. Took time but did okay and its in EU , so closer to UK anyways!
Sorry i did not list them for order on this site but i am glad you brought it up, i tend to priority the “every day must haves” before listing special things that will take weeks (ie. I would say if you ask me to order anything , i’ll likely get it via Kymco germany or SIRI Bikes Suzuki (hyo dealer too) , they’ve never let down.
Only downside is if “Korea Hyosung” themselves still make the parts that I or they request to be shipped over 😉
“I may possibly” have a rear rack for sale and its top box , but just send me an email about it , it’s in another town, so just have to bare with me to fetch it and then take days shipping it (big box, delicate parts, can’t rush it)
Engine bars 2nd hand got sold too quickly on ebay , ill try list what i can!
I would keep her , trust me , i know someone with a 650 in Midlands that actually went extra
Tank Bag, Side Panniers, Top Rear Tail Bag, all were extendable textiles.
You could look in to something like a short tail bag that straps to the seat (if not carrying pillions) or roll bag that converts in to a backpack as you take it off.
Oxford is known to do this for their tank bags but mind the scratches of paint on tank!
I can always get a rack to mount a top box probably through Sinnis (Real Hyosung UK , under license) , i would not touch the sites that look blue/white as all scammers anyways. Good thing i’ve made this one purposefully dark.
Keep us posted on the reg , if it moans again, we could be looking at improving other electric parts so it zaps hard as soon as you press start!
Out of the colours hyo makes for the GV’s the 2006 GV650 Blue and your blue are my fav colours!
Red is my other fav colour, maybe it gives some sort of “bad girl red girl” kinda thing lol
Welcome fella as before!
Hi , thanks for the reply and making me feel welcome . I have 2018 model and dont know which rack to go for , any suggestions would be most helpful .cheers in advance.
How about these ?
https://jsaccessories.co.uk/product/oxford-products-p50r-panniers-black-22571?variant=99098Free bike ? and 500 miles from new ?
What a gift!I am slightly jealous.
It is totally okay to strip it down to the best way you can and just remember where each part went or label them
This gives you insight to how to the frame is holding up and if it needs respraying by your local bodyshop guy etc.
You can always upload pictures on here so we all see where you get stuck on etc… And i should be able to explain better from what i can see.
Thank you for correcting me as from the pictures i couldn’t really see, and i find it rare for intakes to snap as its usually the exhaust side (hottest part vs intake side)
But alas front engine means Cam Tension is pressing the chain on the INTAKE side.
Can you get a picture of your current cam tensioners and show us , i will tell you if you have the updated batch or the bad factory batches that were recalled years ago.
As per Simon ^
Also wanted to ask if your bike is EFi & if so , what year and anything has changed over years (either replacing or upgrading)
If its a carb model , go with what Simon said (Me personally would look at the carb first, assuming it’s not because the coils/caps/reg-rec got hot) (Some older 650s were bad for eating their regs but not their fault, as Hankuk didn’t do a great job with making them for Hyosung but sorry to digress)
Keep us posted!
Welcome!
We do have a fair few on here from the North that’s for sure , it’s good to have you and i hope the 650 is treating you well. They are nice vtwins!
In terms of luggage, that’s a hard sell as there is so many variations on amazon now days we would ask:
– Does it matter that needs to be soft or hard?
– Does it need to have a small capacity (can fit maybe 3-6x stella cans in one size)
or we talking extendable ones that can likely fit half the house if they dared ? It deepends on how much you want to carry on the bike when you go away ?Marcel, am I right that the carbs on the 125 are the same as my 250, apart from jets?
Factory 250cc carbs have pre-fitted larger ofrices (whatever is gold inside or has a hole, will be bigger slightly for ease as per service manual)
It can run on 125cc carbs with bigger jets and some tuning.
[redacted] that’s my email mate, but unfortunately I don’t have the old handle bar anymore
Sorry use this link below
Had to remove your email from public view to respect your privacy 🙂
That’s the “front exhaust” cam, i literally just had to order a cam for a customer in the US too! And it is shortly on its way to him because my stock was low (only had rear engine exhaust cam as it doesn’t fit the front. Also had to order him cam tensioners as he had the “bad batch” that korea recalled around 2006-2008
They released updated cam tensioners.
So if need be, just send me an email and i will get you a tensioner (updated version) and a cam shaft for you?
Sorry i saw this post late and no i am not made, you should be mad at the last owners that didn’t look after it well.
I’m looking for a right handle bar for my GT125R 2013, does anybody have one or know where I can get one from? Thanks
Send me an email. I have loads of them
Also , send us your old one too (including the holder that goes in the fork), we literally rebuild them with brand new bars handmade here in yorkshire soil 🙂The Center Stand itself has a “hook” for the spring , that is for one end.
The other end of the spring hooks on the chassis as shown on the arrow below

I’ve tried that and it’s now up and running thank you for your help
Thanks for not giving up on her. Hey Warmer season is officially here, so go on a long date with her somewhere in the countryside 🙂
It doesnt drink wine but a good drink of E5 is all it needs. Not the E10 (never)
