My GV125c 2011, I also have Virago 125 1998.
I love her size as I am 6’4″ and she goes well (just gets 70mph on original sprockets with no headwind).
Bought after being badly stored for 7 years with low mileage and failing chrome. But with bad chrome being replaced, frame touched up and a lot of polishing she is coming on great.
The new screen (eBay £30) is the latest addition and I have no more bugs on my visor.
Last of the bad chrome means I am still looking for front indicator bar and chewing over the handlebar change – something like Triumph T100 bars would do nicely.
The only real problem so far was split manifolds but that is leading to an adventure and were fixed with the right glue.
This is the old girl out at Peranporth airfield today.
Thought I would put this up too, a composite of all GV models.
I would like to get my hands an the new 125s engine as that is a complete redesign with different V angle to the twin cylinders. I also like the new air pod position, just a shame about the rest of the design. You can see the lines taken from the GV250DR (so very tasty) launched in 2017 which only lasted 2 years production. Hyosung seem to of slimmed the range to a single choice, a bike designed for all purposes. I will miss the GTs and cruisers.

Thanks Marcel. I have only seen pictures of these, never saw one in person. I had every intention of putting a 7” round headlight on it, but now I don’t mind these headlights at all after seeing it in person. Plus following my wife home, she said it was very bright, so I will leave that alone.

I cleaned up the gas evap canister and associated plumbing, removed a plethora of stickers off of the frame, replaced the perfectly fine stock air filter with a fresh K & N that I found on super deal, I put the almost brand new carbon fiber muffler from my 390 Duke onto the stock headpipes. I then went for a nice evening ride.

This is what 40 racing hyo’s look like in the Carl Cox Hyo cup in NZ at Hampton Downs. Round 2 of the 2022/2023 season

A Hyo road race series? I had no idea! I’d like to hear more about that.

I’m only in to my second season, but they are into the 12th year/season for this class. We have 5 rounds a season with each round having a practice/qualifying session followed by 4 sprint races (6 laps). At each round, one of the races is a ‘Le Man’ style start which is fun. One of the rounds will also include a 1hr endurance race that can be riden either solo or with a partner that you swap with at 30mins. Race tracks are few and far between in New Zealand, so 4 of the rounds are held at the same track with 1 round being at another track 3.5hrs drive away. Other classes also run on the same day.
The aim of the class is to keep it cheap and fun and to get young racers started, give old hats a class to get back into racing as well as everyone in between looking for fun. So the bikes are stock and must run road legal tyres – no tyre warmers allowed. No mods to engine, suspension etc. Just remove road gear, lock-wire and go racing. You can add braided brake lines, fork fluid weight/vol is free to change, jets are free to change and thats about it. Because it is cheap to race, the field is large, which means there is lots of fun to be had! Doesn’t matter if your in the top 10 or last 5, there are battles to be had everywhere! You can pick up a race ready bike for between NZD$1,000-$2,000. I’m not sure what the numbers were before I joined, but last season there was about 40 of us, this season there is 50 – the track limit.
Look up ‘CTAS Live’ on Youtube – he live video streams the races and leaves them on his channel. Next round is 20th November.
Here’s the website for the cup https://www.ccmscup.co.nz/our-story

This is a photo of my GV125c 2012 that i’m working on at the minute to get up to proper running condition. This was taken about 2017 before I ended up having to garage her for a while due to life getting in the way. I was a new rider at the time, so i think this counts.

Image appears broken, can you upload directly on this site again one more time ?
And any info you need to know just ask away 😀 – Overall they are good Korean bikes, but like any motorcycle, key to longevity is beating what the engineers say in their manuals , which we have uploaded many of them in the “Technical Section” of this site, under 65o manuals.

Finally got round to taking a picture somewhere nice. Went out for a ride to the coast Friday night.
Bike is running well….except since fixing the electrical issue i have, well, an electrical issue! The indicators are temperamental…sometimes they work sometimes they don’t. Anyway something to fix at some point to stop me needing to use arm signals!!

Here’s my gt125rc bought as a project a month ago it needed 2 new tyres, full front calliper rebuild and pads, part rear calliper rebuild and pads, swing arm needed a full re-spray from surface rust, the engine wouldn’t run without choke due to a massive vacuum leak on the front intake, carbs needed balancing, re-painted the engine back black as old paint was flaking off, new chain and tensioners, needed a new rear shock due next week from the legend marcel thanks bro 👍🏻 and a few other cosmetic parts, going to put it through an mot next week once the shock arrives, then looking to re-paint the bike full white with a ghost blue pearl and some other upgrades will update photos once I’ve re-painted it etc

Hope the new owner makes himself known on this forum and you are still welcome , after all the SV did have development contributions by Hyosung for its existence around the late 90s-early 2000s. Ride safe fella and enjoy the big girl!

Lest we forget indeed. I like the crash bars , very good investment. I see that you also have bars on the rear , you could strap on some textile pannies on there 🙂

Hi all I acquired this bike from a friend who was owed some some money and I had just got rid of my first bike a while ago so he gave me this it’s a gv 125 I’m fairly new to riding so not done a lot but I did this years Wirral egg run which was amazing
not done to much to the bike I added the screen and some nice held leather panniers which I found in north wales for bargain price of £30 which replaced the canvas ones that came with the bike that were falling apart iv added new battery after having issues with starting also added a thunderbox so I could add the quad lock wireless charger to run from my battery and have room for some other accessories to be added at a later date if I wish so easy to use would highly reccomend them am just in process of doing new chain and sprocket the bike was sat for a while before I got it so just needs a bit of tlc and a general tidy up some polish in places

That’s a red beauty! – Hope you keep her , they are so comfy to ride , i used to own one before i sold it and went to a GT lol. But i might buy one again just so the family can also have a go on it.
As for your accessories = forwarning , don’t put heated grips as the hyosung 125 stators do not like it , but do upgrade the regulator as its a common failing electric item , the rest of the electrics are fine. It’s just the regulator that’s got to go. It’s that annoying (& avoid chinese copies either), nothing fun about trying to find a rare new harness after the old chinese regulator has fried it, and new stator etc…
For your hands in winter = go to KIES APPAREL website as they do heated gloves with a portable battery that goes in your pocket.
USB charging should be OK, as long as it’s wired properly and isn’t interfering the bike harness , USB generally draws 500 mili amps – 2.4A typically.
That EU LeoVince exhaust gotta sound good huh 😉

It’s okay, it is this object below:
Make it the 1st electrical mod you will do on herUpgrade Regulator Rectifier [Reg Rec] :: GV GT 125 250 R GTR Hyosung
Battery = Go to halfords or Bike garage , ask them to test the battery using a “YUASA LOAD ANALYZER GAUGE” , the big box will probe the battery and the screen will either say “battery good or battery needs replacing” = To save from future stresses of the stator (alternator inside engine) + regulator (rectifier) as they are married as a threesome believe it or not. Bad stator means it will eat the regulator or battery or bad regulator will overspike the battery and it blows , vise versa.
Stator should be fine but if unsure , make a new topic , we may guide you on how to test the stator unit (alternator) , just have a pocket meter handy.
Battery = Yuasa YTX 9BS or 10BS max (12BS/14BS won’t fit, too big) (7BS is too tiny, its for scooters) from halfords (online ones can be fake from dody sellers or they sell new ones that have rotted on shelf for months)
