Sounds like weak battery if it can’t handle lights being ON and trying to crank it at the same time.
I would recommend a fresh battery from halfords or SportsBikeShop website (trusted) , to get YUASA YTX 14BS , little batteries degrade faster and will soon mean new starter motor and relay , engine is happy when battery has around 200CCA capacity to crank considering its a thirsty 2 piston vtwin.
Then confirm yourself or replace regulator or stator unit , if the following fails (even korea says change it too in their manuals)
– Idle Voltage = 14V DC (max 15v/14.8) —> Lowest accepted 13.6V
– 5,000 rpm voltage = 14v-15v (If it is 13.xx above 3,000 rpm, replace regulator, it will burn)Hey,
ST7 is inspired by the design of the GV125C bike , and GV650 tends to be on the “port-cruiser” style.
Not all parts can be changed, especially St7 is essentially called GV700i. You will need to be specific on which exact parts you want from an St7?
Obviously , the “looks” are different from each other, so not all “visual” looking parts will fit GV650 without some struggling or cutting etc
GV700 is been discontinued , but Korea is always updating GV650 since it came to life around 2005 (circa) and they have a new facelift model again for 2023/2024 release
It is easier to get Gv650 parts
But yes the bike does have a kickstand switch and clutch switch how would I bypass these. So many useless things drives me crazy.
KickStand Switch = Cut it and join the wires at the harness side , and tape it very well, so it doesnt rust up or have water attacking it.
Clutch Switch = It is more recommended to replace it than bypassing it , as it may save you from “false neutral” starts , bike thinks it is in neutral when it is actually not, so if you press start , bike chugs forward and falls to the floor, and it may damage the flywheel sprocket due to extra strain on it)
For “testing purposes” , you can get use a metal paper clip , to join the 2 bullet connectors , to test for sparks.

Furthermore it doesnt stutter when decelerating anymore (it was very rough prior to repair, so much that i stopped breaking with the engine) It’s a different ride now, love it even more. Once again thanks Marcel for shareing Your knowledge 🙂
You are welcome! ❤
Enjoy her now 🙂
Hey,
The “main jets” activate once you are beyond 10mph , otherwise it is the “pilot jets” aka “slow jets” that usually are responsible for:
- Idling
- Gear change transition (revs change)
- Starting (part 2
There is also a “tube” that is narrow and very tall, beside each pilot jet, we can’t remove it as its permanent. That is responsible for starting & cranking the bike.
So I would advise:
- Clean the carb thoroughly (it has many holes everywhere inside the skeleton body) and pilots + starter jets clog very very easily.
- Float height must be 7mm (even a touch can bend them) , if in doubt about the, replace the floats for new ones , even the old ones look aged up, bits of it can crumble in to the fuel stream and clog the jets and rest of the carb body
Can’t find someone to Ultrasonic clean the carb ? (best) , use multiple nozzles and a compressed air machine. “Rattle Can” carb cleaners work but they can’t beat ultrasonic cleans or compressed air
Air System = The airbox was removed to get to the carbs, so cheak for air leaks here:
- Under the inlet manifolds (sometimes old O-RINGS will be the 100% reason bike has power losses as its usually ignored by most people)
You will find the orings on the shop. - Inlet manifold for cracks , incase the stress of fitting parts back on might have cracked something
- Airbox isn’t swallowing the carb mouths fully , especially the front. Usually we fix the carbs to the airbox first and tighten nicely , then drop the whole thing nicely down to the fragile inlets.
- Air loss / vacuum loss is one way to make the “taps, pump , carb ” parts not run or even crank the bike properly.
- Check both plugs spark bright blue AFTER you fully charge the battery
try these and report back , and be sure to tell us what the issue was so it helps someone else in similar situation or come back with any pictures of where you get stuck at.
Hope this helps!
Yup, as Simon says , Security tool Torx set is what you need 🙂
I’m also looking for the service manual. if possible, could you send it through?

I’d like one too please! If I could have a PM as well would be much appreciated.
Done
Lights going dimm when pressing start usually means either of these:
- Tank Tap has burst, causing fuel to keep flowing to the carb , causing cylinders to hydrolock (dangerous), remove “OIL FILLER” plug on your clutch cover and sniff hard. if you smell fuel, drain oil, replace oil filter, service the carb, replace intake orings , and definitely replace the tap
Or
Lift tank safely , and cover electronics (be wise!!) , disconnect fuel pipe from the tap and see if tap bursts fuel in to bucket while bike is totally off. I say use extreme caution as petrol fumes near battery can easily cause instant flames should spillages happen. You have been warned 😬
- Relay is burst (common)
- Battery too old or weak. Get it tested free at halfords or bike shop with their own “specialized bettery gauges”
- Battery too small (too low CCA to crank 2 pistons)
- Charging system wanning (causing battery to have low volts to start next time) common culprit is a regulator (which can annoy the stator next and kill it)
- Starter Motor too old (last but not least, but it is not uncommon)
Good luck and see about doing what Simon said above ^

is this it?Looks like it !
I would not buy from places like that , and including their other sites = Hint, they all have the same “design” page , hundreds have been scammed before and sometimes they just send the wrong things , there is a reason i will never do business with them and i go straight to the source (the actual importers of the bikes here in UK) that is sinnis / motogb.
Sorry about that , hope you get your money back!
Aug 23, 2023 at 11:41 AM in reply to: GV125s idle speed when hot / ISCV problem (Idle Speed Control) #11040ISCV on EFI? On the schematics i only found tps (throtle position sensor) and AIPS (air intake pressure sensor)
Yes every EFI Hyosung since 2008 has had an ISCV to control the idling speed, otherwise , you might have an early batch of the GV12-S that doesn’t have it ? Sometimes it acts as a fast choke to warm up the bike in brutal winters
Also i know for a fact Hyosung used 2 variant’s of ECU’s , early vs later model, the later models use a DELPHI ECU with twin plugs and a whole new harness (assume this means electronics also changed to delphi)
Ie. 2008 GV250 Had SENTEC ECU with sentec marked electronics vs a 2016 that had DELPHI and everything else was delphi branded
A Nice lil run. Dropped into second gear! The best way. I was told never use another vehicle to jump start a bike. So i never have.
Some GV’s have it , some do not. Do you see wires going to the kickstand switch and also the clutch handle bar lever switch ? = These 2 also cut sparks off
Aug 21, 2023 at 9:34 PM in reply to: GV125s idle speed when hot / ISCV problem (Idle Speed Control) #11034As per simon says,
i wanted to add by saying flactuating idles may also mean that it’s time to check for these too:
- Airbox Sensors (air sensors) are not clogged up?)
- Air leak around the intake parts of the bike ? causing surging revs and dipping revs etc.. (like a yo-yo)
- Lambda sensor at the exhaust, give it a good clean and retry
- If you are near shops for cars or bikes , please by this product below , put “ALL OF IT” inside the tank, (and use maybe half a tank or normal fuel to mix), now this liquid will travel all over your fuel system and try to clean anything that’s clogging up (funny revs can also be a sign the bike is “trying” to hunt for fuel to make stable revs or it revs higher from ECU to stop it stalling)
- ISCV (idle speed control valve) – Common Hyosung thing, sometimes they work for years without issues , but check it , it is near the airbox. it is electronic with a big plug usually (but Hyosung may have shrunk it)
- Do not use Redex. Only this product is my recommendation.

Hey,
When you was jumping her, did you have a car or truck running ? or how did you jump her ?
