It is ideal to change oil around 1,500 miles if it is used heavily (daily work, etc) regardless of what the mechanic says. 125cc bikes live high rpm lives with less oil , than a 650cc motorcycle with big oil reserves. An inexpensive insurance for the EFi Hyosung 125 Twin
The oil filter is designed to protect your engine by trapping flying debris / metal shavings from the oil. A clogged filter can quickly prevent your engine form being properly lubricated. That’s why it matters so much to change it at every oil change , which is usually around 1,000-1,500 miles at ideal if the bike is used heavily (eg. going to work every day with it, lots of dual carriageway riding , etc). Although it would survive much longer but we wouldn’t take that chance!
