• Scrub the Port Faces Spotless: Use a high-quality wire brush to completely scrape away every single trace of the old crushed gasket paper and black soot crust from inside the engine head holes. A perfectly flat, clean seat is strictly required for the new copper rings to compress right.
• Master the Double-Nut Locking Trick: When winding the new high-tensile studs into your cylinder block, tighten two hex nuts firmly against each other on the top threads. Use your spanner on the outer nut to easily drive the pin deep into the head without scoring the center metal loops.
• Torque Down Gradually and Re-Check: Alternately tighten your manifold nuts down in a progressive star sequence until they hit roughly 18Nm of pressure. After executing your first test ride, let the motor go bone-cold on the stand and carry out one final snug nip check to handle metal expansion.
