• Ensure the exhaust header pipe flange surfaces are clean and free from old gasket residue or carbon deposits before fitting the new copper gasket.
• Position the copper gasket carefully between the exhaust header and the manifold flange to create a perfect seal.
• Hand tighten the stainless steel studs and nuts first to avoid cross-threading.
• Use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts gradually and evenly in a criss-cross pattern to ensure an even crush on the gasket. Follow your bike manufacturer’s torque specs if available (usually around 15-20 Nm).
• Do not overtighten the nuts as this may deform the copper gasket or damage the threads.
• After installation, run the engine and check for exhaust leaks — if any hiss or smell is detected, retighten the nuts slightly.
• Regularly inspect the exhaust gasket during routine maintenance to avoid leaks developing over time due to vibration and heat cycles.
