Did you ever find a solution?
Too much or too little oil can make neutral difficult to find.
I would take off the gear shift lever and linkage, give it a good clean and lubricate. It is surprising how many gear problems are solved with that simple fix. Obviously make sure the oil level is right, too much or too little oil can both affect gears (oh what I’d give for a nice old-fashioned dipstick instead of the damned sight glass!). The owner’s handbooks for my 2011 GV650 says 10W40 and the API classification should be over SL, so SM, SN and SP should be good, check the label. The manual does not say mineral or synthetic oil, so standard mineral oil should be fine, but I always use semisynthetic in all my bikes.
That plug has been bugging me for days. Good to know I can ignore it 😀

Thanks Marcel. 2011 EFI.
Very beautiful, i hope you keep the red colour! How was the ride so far ?
I love the colour. Only had the 63 mile ride home in torrential rain so far. Hopefully I get some dry roads over the weekend to get acquainted.
You won’t regret it. Welcome to the club , we have a few GV owners on here , even one is actually near you @chopper_whitewolf (if he ever sees this tag lol) Is it a new bike or a used one ?
2011. I hope to see it this weekend. It’s getting new coils right now.
Thanks Marcel, exactly what I was after.
If the bike has the OEM regulator/rectifier, I’ll be replacing it, rather than waiting for it to pop.
