    Hi Alan,

Apologies, I wasn’t clear. You need to search in Amazon.

    Hi Alan

return question, where did you get your engines guards / crash bars? Been looking for some, but only found one or two and they seem very expensive.

    Thanks

If you zoom in to the finished job, you can see where I cut away the front bar. If you go with this process and make new holes you wonโ€™t need to do that. Look at the earlier photos of my first attempt and youโ€™ll see what I mean.

    Hi Alan,

Background for you. First one I ordered didnโ€™t fit, so after further measuring the second one was okay. Both from Amazon, so I could send back. Mine came from TOPRAMETAL, but it says unavailable. Below is a photo of the dimensions for mine and Iโ€™ve found one similar, search for b0dmjgcgs5 and it should be the third item down. The dimensions are really close.

Please note I was playing around working out what to do and I cut away part of the rack for it to go around the original fixing points, but then I didnโ€™t like the finish, so took the rubber grommets out and used bolts and nuts with washers to make new holes through the fender. If you choose that method you donโ€™t need to cut the front section away.

    Hope that makes sense.

Got the paint mixed at Cars on Canvey island (http://carspaints.com/) and itโ€™s pretty spot on. I just called them and annoyingly I didnโ€™t know I had to ask them to store the formulation, so Iโ€™ll have to get it rescanned and then I can share the paint code for everyone. So far Iโ€™ve sprayed the side panels and the front fender, but next is to make good and blend in the tank, that will be the real test.
Iโ€™ll get all the info together and post, making sure to mention you of course ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cheers Marcel, I can post up what I used/bought, if that helps. Is it worth sharing on the Facebook group as well, what do you think?

Here is another picture, more of a close up

okay, so finished (in my opinion anyway).
started from scratch and refashioned the home made seat bracket, making it wide enough to use the rack fixing holes. Iโ€™ve made ย new holes through the fender and bolted from underneath.
im really happy with this now, itโ€™s solid and ties the rack in well to the existing seat.ย

    Thanks Marcel, input appreciated.

I would rather destroy a second seat and keep this one, so that when I sell on the next owner can return to original. Iโ€™ll keep looking until I find one.

Agreed, the washers would be an option but concerned 4 bolts might look overkill.
My other thought was to make a second plate that goes over the top and sandwiches the chrome fender section between.

Iโ€™ll go back to the drawing board and make some cardboard templates first.

    Will keep you informed.

    Hi all,

carrying on with the above thread, Iโ€™ve now made my first attempt, creating a new bracket and fitting the rear rack.

still not completely happy with it. Iโ€™ve now got two choices, change the fixing points to accommodate the fender rack fixings positions, and/or (this is my favourite), obtain a second seat and remodel it, so that it comes up and over the fixings to hide them.

so if anyone has a second hand seat that they are flogging for a sensible price, Iโ€™d be interested.

    feedback /comments are always welcome.

    Thanks Marcel,

My intention was to keep the existing seat and just lose the pillion, as I donโ€™t think a bobber seat would look right on that bike.

I may, depending on the solution buy a second hand front seat and get it reupholstered with memory foam etc. to improve comfort.

The aim is not to do anything that would stop the bike being returned to standard.

Whenever I sell it, Iโ€™d like to give the buyer the option to change it back.

Based on everything Iโ€™ve read they are 10w per bulb.

Good question, Iโ€™ll check and let you know.
They work perfectly okay, the timing seems okay as you can see in the video.

20w for an led bulb is quite high, so they may be 4w each.
