Thank you, I know a YTX9-BS will work. I’m more interested to know what the exact OEM replacement is. I just got a hold of a service manual and that does not even specify the battery type. It does indicate “12V 10A” so that would point to a YTX12-BS.

I have an update on this project. The original stator was rebuilt by Rick’s Motorsport Electrics in New Hampshire. It was a bit costly but now that they have done their first one for this model the subsequent pricing will be less. When the stator went back in the bike I found out that the stater was no good. I get 12V at the starter lug when I hit the start button and the starter clicks but does not spin. I disassembled it and everything looks good. The brushes are not worn and nothing is broken or burnt. Even off the bike and bench testing it with a power supply it only clicks. It must be a bad unit. The OEM part # is 31100HC8100. I believe this is also a part that it is not shared with other models besides GD250R and GD250N. There are several Suzuki starters that look identical but without exact measurements I cannot be sure. I am back here asking if anyone has experience replacing this starter with a anything other than the Hyosung part?

This bike came to me with under 1,700 miles and a salvage title. Except for the stator (and now the starter) all of the damage was superficial. The air filter is clean. I replaced the spark plug and changed the oil/filter with the stator. I tried charging the battery and replaced it with a new one. My investment in this is still low and I would like to keep it that way by not spending top dollar on a starter. At least until I can get the bike running and registered. For now I am looking for an inexpensive alternative just to get the bike started.

Whygostock has inflated pricing on this part. It is less expensive to order directly from Korea and wait a week. Plus, they only offer the stator bundled with the flywheel, which I do not need. This is a side project bike I am working on.  Not in a rush and need to keep costs down. Once I get a stator and can actually start the bike, I have no idea if it has other issues.
