Hi
so my bikes been shagged for awhile now as I’ve given up on it. What happened was, as i was riding home one day bike looses power, dies and battery and dashboard goes up in smoke. So i thought ok its my rectifier and stator I presume so buy a rectifier and stator and battery replace those give the bike a test start still nothing so at this point i am clueless because i suck at electrics.
some days go by and i go try again thinking it could have been from when i moved the flywheel a little bit when i had the stator cover off?? I put the ignition timing out maybe?? So i unscrew that big flat head screw on the outside of the stator cover and turn the fly wheel to try and line up a mark with that hole on the top of the stator cover and then my cdi blows up while im turning the flywheel (I accidentally left the key on but completely forgot as zero lights on the bike work what so ever)
so now my cdi is cooked and i still dont know what the issue is ive kinda given up on the piece of shit at this point just thought i would make a post here to hopefully get some insight maybe as to what could actually be wrong.

It sounds like when the original rectifier failed it let the full voltage hit the wiring which has burnt somewhere & shorted everything to ground, a normal stator/rectifier fault won’t smoke the dash etc

Batteries and regulators are known to do 100% just that. Fry everything connected to the harness.
Poor bike was not expecting a regulator or battery to kill it. Granted Knockoff regulators (aliexpress ones) or Stock OEM regulators are usually the #1 or #2 i frequently advise people to move up to the Shingden Units (japanese) like what you see on the store but a volt meter attached to the bike can warn the rider while riding that charging system is exceeding 15V limit that Hyosung wants.
Replace the dash its fried. + harness (MAKE SURE the harness & dash match! – If you put a 2012 dash to a 2007 harness, it will go in smoke instantly!)
+ CDI + Reg Rec + StatorIt will be good to go again!
I suspect that you could benefit to replace the HT caps (burst resistors) , use NGK ones , get new OEM coils – We now have sparks!
Things like Lights + Indicators + Relays can be replace bit by bit if there is any budget constraints.
