Well there are no signs of it been ridden hard by its previous owner and i checked the millage this morning and its only done 8873 miles… so i made some slight adjustments to clutch cable, and added a small amount of Motul semi-synthetic 10w40 oil, then took it out for a little test ride and it seems to be ok, i didn’t have that “clutch slip” feeling when opening the throttle.

Like i said, it was only a quick little test, I am planning on giving it a proper test over the weekend so will let you know how it goes, fingers crossed.

    Hi Simon,

Thank you for your quick response.

The clutch was my initial thought, the bike has done around 9,000 miles (off the top of my head).

Is this a common fault with the hyosung gt650r? Am i right in thinking it is a big job / expensive to replace?

    Regards Nick.

I have ordered a regulator from Electrosport, and retested the stator and It does say 55v across all 3 pins…

    I’m slightly worried though…

Would you say the regulator from Electrosport and the stator I currently have, which β€œlooks” taiwanese be compatible?.. the last thing I want to do is put a the new regulator on and the stator burns it out for example…

Finally done a few tests on the stator and regulator and got the following results ; –

Stator Test from cold – the readings were roughly 0.3ohms across all pins

Stator Test with the bike running at 5k (ish) revsΒ  – readings were roughly 55/56v across all pins.

With the regulator i actually found a break in one of the lines whilst carrying out a diode test, and the reading i got from the battery whilst the bike was running at 2k revs was 12v.. so from the results i got, i believe the regulator is at fault and needs replacing..

Could you suggest any decent regulators for me to replace the faulty one with?

    Hi Marcel,

I have found out the stator has come from Ebay.. and the reg has no brand name or part number. I have attached some photos for you to see yourself, not sure if they will be of any help. I am going to test them both tomorrow when i can get my multimeter…

I am wondering if it would be worth replacing both the Regulator and Stator, what do you think? If you do, could you suggest the correct reg and stator?

    Thanks Nick

    Than

    Hi Marcel,

I have done some digging and found out from bike shop I purchased it from, that the stator and regulator has already been replaced about a week before I brought the bike.

Do you think I should still test the stator and reg? Or could it be anything else?

Thank you for your help with this by the way.

Brilliant, thank you for the quick response.

I will have a look at the stator and regulator tomorrow and let you know.
