Hi Phillp that would be great thank you.
Hi Marcel thanks I’ll give Startright a call and see if they can help. When I took it for the type approval the guy did question why it required an mot and type approval !!
MotoGB did confirm the details but as they are in the process of moving officers they couldn’t locate it. As for DVLA I’ve tried to explain all of this to them but they aren’t going to budge they want proof of year of manufacture, just banging my head against a brick wall and you can’t speak to the new regulations dept only the switch board !!
Thanks all for your replies.
Hi Dave, yeah it’s been a b**l ache to say the least. DVLA say they never received any paperwork relating to the bike the dealer confirmed purchase and then sale but said they didn’t have any other information regarding it, MotoGB confirmed all their said of things but they are in the middle of an office move so can’t locate the paperwork but can confirm vin colour month and year of import. I have tried other dealers and all I get from them is refer to original dealer or MotoGB !! Just keep going round in circles.

Hi Dave sorry it’s a long reply !!
I bought the bike at auction last march. It was listed as unregistered but came with a number plate. On checking I found that the number given to it was on the system, I contacted DVLA who confirmed it. The name of the bike shop was on the plate so I contacted them. They confirmed that they had sold the bike and sent all the paperwork off to DVLA. They also gave me the phone number for MotoGB who imported and sold the bike to them. I called them and they confirmed that they imported it in Aug 2016 and sold it onto the bike shop in 2017.
I then filled in the 55/5v for 1st registration after speaking to DVLA again and asking what I need to do to get it registered. This 1st application ws rejected as the bike wasn’t mot’d so tried to get that done on the vin number. This was done sent everything back to DVLA who rejected it again saying it needed type approval. I booked it in with VOSA appt got cancelled 3 time’s due to illness and no staff (their end) managed to get this done. Sent all paperwork back to DVLA who again rejected it saying in need another mot because it hadn’t been type approved the 1st time !! This was done again sent off again and rejected again as they want year of manufacture. That’s when I posted on here and Marcel replied saying where to find the date stamp and engine number. This was sent back they have rejected it again stating that they want a certificate stating year of manufacture. They have said if I can’t get this they will issue a Q plate. I have emailed hyosung (KR Motors) in Korea to see if they can help but not had a reply.
Okay the continuing sarge of getting my bike registered.
Once again DVLA have rejected my application as they are saying all the evidence I have provided does not confirm the year of manufacture !!
I have sent confirmation from MotoGB who imported the bike and the bike shop that sold it.
They are now saying unless I can get it confirmed by the manufacture they will only issue a Q plate instead of an age related plate !!
What advice can anyone give in relation to a Q plate ?
Thanks
Andy
Hi sorry I’ll upload some photos I was trying to do it from my phone.
I will keep all updated on the progress and once it’s all gone through I’ll post how I went about it and all the pitfalls I came across so others if they are in the same situation have a better idea of what it entails.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply, hopefully with the information from yourself and Marcel I’ll hopefully get it over the line.
Hi Marcel,
Belated happy new year to you as well. Thanks for the reply I’ll look at that on Friday. It’s been a pain in the rear trying to get this sorted.
Thank you again for the information finger’s crossed it’ll get over the line this time as they say 3rd time lucky.
Kind regards.
