So it repeated β 10-3-5-1 (Failing ignition coils)β again on new coils and new caps ? with new spark plugs? If you rode on limp mode, was that on 1 cylinder or were both cylinders running okay on your return trip home It happened to me last week, i found out the front coil had a loose connector which was my fault , i had to change spark plugs & drop the radiator but did not realize the engine vibrates a lot and we have sketchy roads in the UK , so if anything wasnt rtight, it will get vibrated off = Though you have a delphi coil which has a better connector that clips tight, i canβt help wonder if the harness connecting the coils are the problem ? If no other codes come on the ECU , i am assuming! Beautify as the GV650 is , I honestly believe it is FARRRRR better to go Carby route then EFi! β I never liked EFi machines (even if it was a Honda etc, too many electronics ,i dont even trust ABS brakes lol!) == 250cc/125cc EFi owners will have an easier time though as easier to diagnose them
yeah it was still running on two cylinders and really smooth, some crackles and pops but the fuel is a month old now and it has straight pipes so that’s to be expected, I actually do wish I’d bought a carby version! I did test ride one but it was slower than a wet week, I swear I could have gone flat out, jumped off the back and chased it down, whereas this one went like a scalded cat on the test ride so it was easy to win me over, little did I know what I was in for, I think rebuilt carbs and ignition would have been easier!
And yeah throwing the exact same code as previously, when I get time I will pull it apart again and inspect the wiring from the coils back and see if I can see any wiring that needs repair, thanks heaps for your advice, much appreciated
yeah itβs the later Delphi one, has 28198992 followed by 3A04A on a sticker on it, Iβve ordered some new ones and will fit some quality leads and caps to it, I go away for a week on the 22nd so will be a while before I can ride it again unfortunately
Just an update, I fit the new coils and leads, replaced both even though the rear was still good, took the bike for a short ride around my neighborhood and it rode really well, so I got back, put the rest of the fairings etc and my proper riding gear on, was still going sweet, got maybe 5km down the road and opened her up for the first time… and it broke down again, limp mode, and the same code as previously, I was able to reset the code and ride it home on light load, I still had to pull over and reset it twice more to get home… so I’m not quite sure what to check next…
Very frustrating motorbike to own I must admit, I just feel like I’m constantly chasing my tail, fix on problem, and it creates another one lol.
I’m glad I have my reliable old dl650Β (with 4 times the mileage) to ride in the meantime!yeah it’s the later Delphi one, has 28198992 followed by 3A04A on a sticker on it, I’ve ordered some new ones and will fit some quality leads and caps to it, I go away for a week on the 22nd so will be a while before I can ride it again unfortunately
The Delphi 650 (GV or GT) would get mostly the same codes but iβve yet to find something βGV Delphiβ specific yet considering both GT and GV donβt share the same ECUβs or dashboards, the flashing sequence of the red Fi light you said seems to match what i found in the books if its true. You would have to read the flashing sequences again , if it happens again but unplug the battery for a day (just to see if the same flashing errors occur) β The LCD panel is funny sometimes, it can say FI, 0, Fi, 0, while riding not telling me much, but if i park up and flick the kill switch 3 times rapid before starting, the red light will flash telling me the true issues. The red Fi light is more handy than the LCD panel.
I’ve confirmed the front coil is cactus, I’ve noticed for the older models you can use sv650 coils, is there a conversion or higher quality replacement that we can use for the later style coils on these bikes? I’ve seen the ones in the store here, but It’s already been a month since I’ve ridden it and I’m hoping I can find something locally so I can get it going this week! It will take a while for them to get to Aus from the UK.
Itβs in the forum service manuals uploaded here:
[DOWNLOAD] Service Manuals & Owners Books β Hyosung GV650 & GT650 (Carb & EFi)
I do have a copy of that and referred to me it, but I could only find the ‘C’ codes and when I tried to bring them up on my bike I got ‘no Er’ on my clock face, I saw something about cycling the key 3 times and counting the fi flashes and got the numbers above, but couldn’t see where to reference them in the manual, I am new to bikes, the Hyosung has been my first, I do have a v-strom now which is handy as I can pinch the coils from that to test the gv650.
The closest i can get is 10-3-5-1 (Failing ignition coils) Nothing i can see here for 10-3-5 (0r 10-3-5-0)
Also do you have the list of codes? I have an efi user manual but it only lists the ‘c’ codes, I couldn’t find any info on the flashing fi codes

You are absolutely correct βΊοΈ I checked again and there is a final 1 at the end of the sequence, I also have a cracked gear position sensor though the inside looks fine and I’ve had no issues with gear selection or neutral switch etc, hopefully I can pick up some coils before the weekend, does anybody know exactly what model Suzuki’s suit? I live in Australia so will have to try find some locally
Just an update, I reinstalled the battery, installed an extra earth and tidied up some more wiring, it will now run and keep running (even when I back down the drive) I took it for a quick ride and it quickly started breaking down/backfiring and I got an F1 code and went into limp mode, I got it home, for some reason it won’t show me a ‘C’ code, which I thought the Delphi ecu’s did? but when I turn the ignition off and on 3 times, I get the flashing 10-3-5 sequence
thanks heaps for the reply, I’ve actually had that thread open all week though I haven’t followed every step thus far, It’s just so weird everything seems perfect until I back down the drive, I could put a new fuse in, start it right now and run it for 15 minutes without any dramas, but soon as I back down to try ride it, I’m sure it will die… but I’ll give it a proper look on the weekend
A bit late to the party here, but I bought a GV650 lams over in Perth, there is a post on here about de-restricting the throttle body, and how to do it, you don’t need to remove the airbox, only the left hand side intake, then you can see the throttle mount and the stopper. Mine had actually already been removed, but tbh if I were you I wouldn’t worry about it. I have my RE PDA on Monday and I’ll ride mine until it dies or I get my R licence and upgrade π
