OK, let’s try this for a picture. I’ve never used Imgur before but here goes.
While I’m here, I’ve seen that leaks from the fuel tank are not uncommon, and it seems this bike has one – not a big one, but enough to make it unroadworthy.
Can you possibly point me to any info about this problem and potential fixes?

Thanks Macel – that’s just the kind of advice I was hoping for.
The bike is in remarkable condition, cosmetically, at least, and the current owner has only had it for 12 months, so the tyres only date back that far (Bridgestone Battlax – not bad), so I’m hopeful that it’s not a wolf in sheep’s clothing as far as mechanical condition is concerned.
It’s definitely spent its whole life indoors (and barely being ridden, it would seem), so I’ll buy it with my fingers crossed.
Worst case: I should be able to sell that cool-looking but horrendously loud exhaust for about half of what I’m paying for the bike.
I’ll keep you updated and post some pics, if I can work out how to post pics (I tried following the instructions, but the options I’m presented with don’t match what the instructions say – there’s no “add media” button, only “insert/edit media” and when I click that, there’s no option to upload files).
