Hi Guys
So the problem was solved.
Turned out it was the battery.
The battery was about a year old and the volt meter said 11-13 volts. Turned out it had little to no amperage, never ever have I checked the amps always went by volts.
Just goes to show your never to old to learn. ( feeling a little stupid)
Just wanna thank you guys for the quick responses and the advice.
Thanks again
Keep the shiny side up
Cheers Hardy
Hi Simon
So i just went over the bike again checking connections etc, but found nothing.
Had the battery on the charger but before I put it back in I checked for continuity between the neg and pos battery connectors and turned the key on and off showing that was working to get power. Put the battery back in but still nothing.
I decided to try the old push start and it started right away. However the lights on the dash kinda flickered so I started to tap the connectors and tried different controls horn, signals. I pulled in the front brake and the lights got brighter, disconnected that but no fix. Forgot to turn on fuel so it stalled, rolled the bike back to push start again and noticed the regulator was kinda warm when I sat on the bike because I had the seat off.
I think its hotter than it should be only running for about 5 min.
Will try to find test for the regulater.
Any shared wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks Hardy
Hi Simon
Thanks for responding to my question.
Tried cleaning all the connections but still nothing.
Checked the harness connector red wire has battery voltage, orange wire has continuity to negative on battery so I’m thinking those are good
Checked ignition switch connector red and orange ohm out when key is in on position and the other two wires when key is in off position
Put the battery on a charger overnight and going to check some of the grounding points on the bike next.
Read a post somewhere (can’t remember where) but someone had the same issues and he said he was able to push start the bike and while running everything was normal again.
Doesn’t really make sense as it seems that somewhere in the ignition circuit there is something that is not allowing it to start normally.
However I will try that.
Thanks
Hardy
