What i did was researched and found a pinout diagram on each, the 2-plug(8 pin) and the 3-plug(10 pin) boxes and then got a diagram of which of those wires were in my harness and then modified my harness to a 3-plug to work but it’s not 4pin-2pin-4pin like the box takes…instead I ended up having to modify my harness to have a 2pin-2pin-4pin plugs. So I’m still only using 8 pins of the 10pin box and still using the same 8 wires on my harness, i just changed it from 2-4pin plugs to the 2-2-4. (I really hope that nade sense to yall), i think i explained it right, it’s been a min since i did it…But hey it works, the bike runs great and I’ve been running like that now for about 6 months with no issues. TTYL bro.
The one with 2 plugs came on my bike and the 3 plug is what I have on the bike now and the only difference that I can tell in functioning is with the old one, the bike fired immediately and with the new one there’s like a 1-2 second delay before the bike fires, other than that I wouldn’t know anything was different.

Hey Marcel, sorry about the confusion on that last message but I changed my cdi because it went bad and the bike stopped firing correctly.Β I guess I should’ve mentioned that little bit of info sooner…lol, my bad. But yeah I’ll load a pic here in a couple mins, I may just have to show u the right one from online because I believe I already trashed my old one. I’ll post a pic of what mine came with and what I have on it now. Be back with those soon.
Alright ty for all that bro, I really appreciate it.Β I do all my own work but I’m never above taking any advice I can get and I never dismiss what another has to say because u never know when their advice may just teach u an easier or faster way of doing something. Speaking of saying that I have a question for u and maybe some info that might could help u or someone else here in the forums. I’ll start off by saying I don’t have much money so I have to fabricate and do with what can get cheap a lot of times. We have a saying here that we “make chicken pie out of chicken shit”…lol. Sorry I hope that was ok to put on here, if not I’ll remove it and I apologize in advance…but anyway have u ever seen anyone put a 10pin cdi box on a 02 gv250 that come with an 8pin cdi? I did it because I couldn’t afford the ridiculous prices of the 8pin cdi my bike calls for. Let me know on that and if u or anyone needs the specifics, I’ll be glad to post. But thr cheapest I found the 8pin I think was right at $100 but I got a 10pin for $30 I believe it was. Alright, til next time brother.
Ok ty for that info Marcel.Β I witnessed the “screaming revs” u speak of the one and only time I took mine on the interstate.Β I was following a friend of mine , him in his car, me on my GV250 and I remember revving like 9 grand at around 70mph. Of course it doesn’t redline til 12,000 but I just couldnt think of sustaining that high of rpms for any length of time. So no more interstate for my “Scarlett”…lol. So on average , about what milage should the chain be replaced? And what chain should I buy? Also should I replace the sprockets also, or just the chain? Sorry for all the questions, Marcel, I’m just trying to learn about them. Thanks in advance brother and I hope I’m not being a pain.
If u don’t mind me asking Marcel, do u have your own shop or just build bikes as a hobby or what? Just curious because of your last comment about next time u do a chopper job. I mean you’re obviously very knowledgeable when it comes to these bikes. Speaking of, what sprocket set up should I go with on my gv250 if I wanted a little more takeoff power? Also can u find aftermarket exhaust for them? If so point me in the right direction please. Thanks in advance bro. Talk soon.
Jarret

Hey buddy, how are u doing? Thanks for the compliment and actually I always have plans for any vehicle of mine…lol. it’s just a matter of if I have the money and time…u know what I mean. But since u asked, Ive already been doing things to her, I’ll upload a .ore recent pic in just a min and be honest about what u think please. I’ve modified the exhaust and Im in the middle of doing a paint job on her but having a hard time settling on colors. I have a question, are there any aftermarket exhaust options for these? I would love to change mine and have some bigger diameter header pipes and possibly have them turned down somehow so that the sound beats off the ground. Also I converted her to a vacuum fuel pump, I took my intakes off and made holes in them and put valve stems in them and sealed them good and run two hoses into one at the pump, it seems to do well. I’m happy with it. I’ll upload a recent pic and eagerly await your opinion on her and I’ll get back to u in a little bit. Until then bro.

Hey man as far as upgrades to the bike, I’d like to put an aftermarket air filter of some sort and I’d like to upgrade my coils and plug wires, just a few small things like that. U had said something about electrical and the clutch and also a chain. Could u tell me a little more about those and what to expect from them and also what to expect, price wise…thanks. Oh also I’d love to show u guys a Pic of mine but have yet to figure out how…
Ty for the welcome Marcel and I apologize for taking so long to respond back. I started off riding scooters about 8 years ago or so and got used to them for awhile.Ive always been a “gear head” so to speak starting with cars and I have always done my own mechanic work on pretty much anything I’ve ever owned and other than a bicycle when I was younger, I never rode anything on 2 wheels until I got my first scooter in 2017. I have to say I never thought going 30-40mph would ever be that much fun. I really enjoyed riding scooters, but I wanted to go a little faster so I upgraded a little each year until I was riding my 150 that I had did a lot of work on and had turned into a 171cc and a woman pulled out in front of me and I t-boned her in the driver’s door. Luckily I was only going about 40 when I saw her start to move and was able to slow myself to about 25 before impact and I was lucky enough to come away with only a pretty bad gash on my shin and 1 broken wrist, however the bike wasn’t so lucky. It was totaled so then I said ok time for another upgrade, albeit only a small one in terms of CC’s but a huge upgrade in terms of “bike”. I saw a 2002 GV250 for sale and fell in love! So I bought it and have been loving every minute of it since…lol. You’re right, it’s a very comfortable ride, I love how it looks, its stance and the ride of it is amazing. And even though it’s only 250cc, it’s no slouch in the power/speed department neither. I plan to do some upgrades but not sure what if any aftermarket parts are out there for them yet. I’m gonna try and post a pic or two in a moment, hopefully I can figure it out…lol. I’ve gotta go for now but any advice and tips on aftermarket stuff for the GV’S would be much appreciated. Until next time guys, later.
Jun 13, 2025 at 10:55 AM in reply to: Is it possible to convert GV250 carb model (2007) to run an electric fuel pump? #19701Hey guys my name is Jarret and I just registered with hyoriders. I was actually trying to find out about possible aftermarket air intake or filter options for a GV250 when I came across this forum/thread(I’m not sure of proper terminology) but anyway as Marcel had mentioned about a version of carb model with electric fuel pump and how they realized stators would last longer without it…Well it just so happens I have one of those models that I bought back in December. It’s a 2002 GV250 Alpha and I’m currently going through that exact issue. My stator has gone bad and has left me stranded a time or two now due to battery dying and then of course dead battery=no fuel so I now know that I’m gonna see if I can’t try and convert to vacuum pump. I’m glad I came across this and look forward to exchanging info and such with u guys. Thanks for allowing me to join.
