The Gap is totally fine , this is a small pump that squirts a little gas inside the cylinder on acceleration , u can manually check this if it works smoothly , unless the rubber boot is become hard and holding it down,
However this would not be a cause for the acceleration issue that your facing , check pilot jet circuit again and also if both the slides are moving freely without restriction.
