On my first go, I think the float stuck as it wouldn’t go then gas came out the overflow. Tore it down again then used your suggestion and with some tweeking I have it running reasonably well. I’m letting it sit and will see how it behaves tomorrow.
It’s not a bad idea to go through everything once more , good job!
