I think I’ve solved the mystery of why the tail light gssket was not fitted. Ive taken the light assembly off and its been damaged. All three bolts have been broken and fixed/ glued back on with body filler. The problem is that one or more bolts are angled incorrectly and consequently the light unit can’t be pulled tight to the shape of the mudguard. Therefore the gasket won’t sit tight as there is a small gap.

Im reluctant to tighted the nuts up excessively as the pressure may damage the bolts again.

Although I’m not sure if it will work, I’m thinking of using a black rubber sealant to fill the gap. Any ideas as to what would be the best product to use ?
