Hi I was wondering if there is any way of squeezing more top speed out of a 2016 hyosung gv 125 I have put a 52 tooth sprocket on the rear and looking at a 16t sprocket for the font but is there any thing else I can do to it eg different jetting in the carbs or is there any ristrictions within the motor? I spoke to a machanic who said any tuning wouldn’t be worth it and it would more than likely blow up, is this the case?

Bike has 5000 miles valve clearances we’re done 200 miles ago spark plugs amber Color so engine is fine full service 350 miles ago

Hey,
The CDI is already at full capacity (no restrictions) , do you have any aftermarket exhausts on it , and if so can you post a pic (this matters a lot)I would say if the plugs are all yellow, then that’s good! – You can squeeze a little more by:
– Increasing the main jets from stock to 90 and 92.5 as optimal for top gear
– Do the slide mod (click here for tutorial)Clutch Plates = The service manual says to “Check” (means get the venier calipers out & measure the spring height and plate thickness) for wear as they do go heat fatigued and tired these springs, aswell as friction material of the plates do wear down eventually or the service manual says if “any is out of spec” , rebuild clutch (click here for tutorial)
Chain = Your 520 kit is on the way, so you will find out the hard way how your engine can push it or motor needs attention. You will appreciate the gearing of the 520 will be night & day over the 16 + 52T
16T is too heavy at the front, even for a 428 chain.
Plus , Hyosung slipped up by using cheap plates that warp inside the swingarm if not careful, so click here to compare with the recommended plates that slot inside your swingarm edges and keep the chain stable.
If you’re going to take the wheel off, don’t forget about your cush drive! (see here)
Keep us posted!

hi
I don’t have a exhaust at the moment but was looking at the ko2 Leovince silver tail they look good,
The jets 90 on the front 92.5 on the rear cylinder right ?
I’ve already upgraded the swing arm plates as they bent the first time it was adjusted never done it since they were replaced
both rear bearings have been replaced aswell beacuse they were rusted factory never put the rubber seals over the opening on both sides
with the clutch is there a performance outcome or is it solely comfort I did see a clutch overhaul kit but I haven’t noticed any slippage so does it need it ?
final question, the wheels are quite heavy is there any lighter wheel sets, I doubt it beacuse the size is quite hard to come by but was wondering

The bike has no standard exhausts at all ? I might have a stock system up for sale soon on ebay , if the bike has no exhaust whatsoever.
LeoVince is good! but very pricy!yes , biggest jet on the rear. PLEASE, make sure your mechanic goes to “Tutorial” section of this forum to find 2x topics called “Intake Pipe removal” and “Airbox Removal” , the GV intake pipes are very very verrrrry delicate rubber pieces that are near impossible to replace (not made any more!)
If the clutch isn’t slipping , that’s good, but it does loose its “punch” overtime and the gears feel a bit crunchy to shift sometimes , hence service manual is being optimistic to say “inspect it” or “replace whatever part has worn down in there” around 4k mark. This site just replaces the whole clutch and be done with it.
For wheels – Rear one is OK, its a little lighter than the GT ones to be honest and changing the back end means a lot of custom work.
Front wheel – Digital Speedo Sensor on the wheel and Digital LCD dash you have requires that wheel to stay on, 🤐 -

Sorry, correction the bike has a stock exhaust
yes Leovince is very pricy I saw a tk custom exhaust for the gv 125 for 240 but I can’t source it reliably do you know of any brands that make a cheaper one ? Or is Leovince the best and only?

Stock is very heavy on its own but it gives the best power and LeoVince only. Cutting and using slash-cuts or whatever mixture out there will really slow the bike down, i don’t know why but i’ve tried many and many cans on customer GV’s , the engines respond to either LeoVince or Hyosung’s stock cans only very well.
Exhaust company in UK called Black Widow only makes pipes for the GT bikes including silencers. No news on GV ones sorry.
IF you spend enough money getting someone to copy the pipes in to stainless or chrome plated and fine tuning the size of the cannons with baffles so the bike doesn’t experience a dramatic power lose ===> you may as well get LeoVince or just shorten the stock muffler by about 8cm max shorter length (fabricator should do this for you)

Hi
do you know where to get the carb jets from ?
Sprockets worked well, consistently hits 70 and above.
also is there anything like a big bore kit, I know it’s a long shot however would be cool.
thanks -

Awesome! – Leave a review on the shop page if you haven’t already 😉
Jets = We can get em anytime. Just send an email with sizes you want.
Pilots = already on the shop
Bore Kits =No such thing and the crank is only happy with the current pistons that’s on it.

Hi
The sprocket kit is installed but has a 12t sprocket on the front can I change that higher or to much weight for the engine ?
is there an uprated air filter for the hyosung gv125 beacuse I’m installing the higher mm main jets ?
I’ve just ordered a Leovince silvertail exhaust does this add any performance to the bike other than a better sound no hopes just curious.
many thanksHarry

I know I’ve asked the same question about the front sprocket before but for example is a 14t or a 15t light enough.

Leovince = Fantastic sound! , maybe 1hp boost on engine with baffles inside. It “MUST” have baffles, as 125s always perform better with baffles in.
Sprockets = Your rear is 38T and 12T front = Max speed “theoriticallly” is 110mph, so no way you will never exceed the kit we sent you.
Focus more on beefing the clutch as old clutch wears down , newer plates and newer springs will restore some of the lost torque it had before.
Torque matters more than actual top speed.
Air Filter is also used on GV250, it flows enough air for a 125cc 😉

So exhaust plus carb jetting clean and balancing after exhaust is on about 1.5 hp ?
Also compared to stock is the leovince heavier ? -
Aug 12, 2024 at 7:50 PM #14463
Yes about 1-2hp & Hyosung’s exhausts weigh an absolute ton! – Your bike will roll a tiny bit faster with less weight (maybe 5kgs saving) , less strain on the clutch too.

Hi,
I installed the 92.5 and 90mm jets after putting on the Leovince silver tail exhaust and it bogged out and wouldn’t go past 30, I think it’s to many sizes up, would it be better on a 86/87mm.
also the cdi unit on the hyosung gv125 (2016 and before) has a ristrictor for emissions restricting the mid and top range acceleration is there a way round this? Do people sell/modify these? Could I do it myself?
thanksharry

The CDI is not restricted whatsoever. We have tested these loads of times under different engines (old and young)
90 and 92.5 is OK, but check these
- mixture settings , if no one messed with the screws , don’t touch em until you show us the spark plug colours inside and outside the plugs.
- Slide Needle should go back to “middle” setting OEM (click here)
- What is the current size of the “Pilot Jets” 17.5 or 15 ? (affects how well you take off too)
Show us the baffle of the exhaust and i will advise how to get the best out of it.
