Hi guys, i bought some GT650 Front Forks to put on my GT250R.
They say they’re from a 2007 GT650. The BRAKE CALIPER MOUNT HOLES are THE SAME DISTANCE APART & looks like it should fit my GT250R.
The forks have adjustable rebound & compression & have a stiffer springs. Can you tell me the difference between the GT650 forks that WILL FIT my bikes Brake Calipers & nthe newer GT650 forks that don’t fit my bike?
I believe the caliper mount holes are the only difference. I don’t want to buy new 4xpiston brakes & hoses, i want to use what’s on the bike now.
I just wonder if these forks are actually from 2007. They look the same as my 250 forks (eyeballing it) & the caliper holes are exactly the same distance apart.
So i think i CAN USE these 650 forks on my bike – straight swap.
I just thouhgt i’d check with you before i do all the hard work. Drained fork oil – yet to put in new oil. Bought LiquiMoly Medium 10W Fork Oil.
About 375ml came out of 1 fork & 350ml out of the other.
Fill them to 380ml or 400ml?
I’m not going to be checking air-gap i don’t think. Jsu tgoing to make sure all the old oil is gone.-----LaserBeam---->

400ML is usually max capacity but hyosung has updated the 650 forks 3 times! (Old , Newer , and 2020+ updates for their current LED GV650 models which borrow GT forks!)
So if you want to use 650 forks on your GT250 = Get the silver ones. This is up to 2008 as a safe mark. Around 2009-2012 different countries started getting black 650 forks with updated calipers.
So 2005-2008 GT650 should be fine 🙂

The forks i bought are black from a GT650, apparently 2007. My bike is 2008 GT250R.
Did they have black adjustable forks on a 2007 650?
I have the 650 manual for the 2010 bikes & the forks look the same but the max oil amount seems high.
The holes for the calipers to BOLT onto, on the new forks seem to line up with the old forks.
So 380ml Fork Oil should be ok & my 250’s brake calipers should bolt straight on. That was the plan.
My bike will not require the same damping as a 650 & the new oil is quite thick.
I just hope they fit as i’m excited about adjusting the compression & damping & having heavier springs.
My wheels are from a 650, so the original forks are not ideal due to the extra weight.

Hmmm , fingers crossed because Hyosung kept their forks & engines silver until around 2010 , where they did a facelift models with updated parts in black colour, their engine became black too. (250cc would have gold forks , then black forks but not adjustable)
All 650 forks are adjustable top and bottom.
You got this 😀

The difference between the later model 650 forks is the shape of the mount on FORK LEG & postion of mounting holes for the 2x screws, yes?
If 400ml is maximum fork oil, then 380ml should be ok,yes
(will get slightly less damping as there is more air in tube to compress).

you wouldn’t want to overfill as that would make the forks too stiff or jarring!😬
Correct on the 650 forks, later models => bottom legs change to fit the black 4-pot calipers.
