Bike Model = : Aquila GV 125 2009Hello everyone,My name is René, and I am new to this forum. First of all, thank you for accepting me. I am happy to join a community of people who share an interest in Hyosung motorcycles.I live in Spain and I own a 2009 Hyosung GV125 Aquila, carbureted model, which I have had the pleasure of maintaining myself.My motorcycle currently has approximately 12,000 km.I am joining the forum because I am trying to learn more about my motorcycle and, in particular, I am currently investigating a mechanical noise that I would appreciate some help with from experienced GV125 owners.The motorcycle runs very well and has no loss of power. However, I have an intermittent clac-clac / ticking noise coming from the front cylinder area, mainly at idle and low RPM. The noise can disappear completely and then return. It is generally less noticeable when accelerating or at higher RPM.I have been investigating the front cam chain tensioner. Interestingly, when I remove, reset, and reinstall the tensioner, the noise disappears temporarily, but after some riding it may eventually return.My tensioner appears to be different from many of the GV125 tensioners I find for sale online. I am therefore trying to identify the exact correct replacement part for my particular model.According to some parts catalogues, the tensioner reference may be 12830HR6500, but I would really appreciate confirmation from someone who owns or has worked on the same generation of GV125.I would be particularly grateful to hear from owners of a 2008–2009 carbureted GV125, especially if anyone has experienced a similar noise or has information about the original cam chain tensioner fitted to these motorcycles.Thank you very much in advance for your help. Welcome to the forum, René! 👋It is great to have another GV125 owner here who loves doing their own maintenance.That “clac-clac” ticking noise at idle is actually a very common quirk on early Hyosung V-twins. When you reset the cam chain tensioner (CCT), you temporarily force it to extend. However, if the noise returns after a short ride, it usually means the tensioner’s internal ratcheting mechanism is slipping or the cam chain itself has stretched slightly past what the spring can self-adjust for. ? So you also may need to check your cam-shaft bearings too ?Regarding part number 12830HR6500: Hyosung famously redesigned their V-twin tensioners multiple times across generations. The older carbureted pre-2009 models often use a completely different shape than the later models.Before ordering anything: It is highly recommended to do a visual match against online parts photos
Make sure the tensioner looks the same as yours as GV125 only has 3 tensioner designs so far (Old Gen Big Alien Head, Gen 2 is smaller head but wide big engine hole, and later 2018+ EFi GV125 uses even smaller tensioners.

Thanks for the reply; I’m sending a photo of my tensioner. I also signed up after seeing the tutorial on your forum—linked here—which recommends replacing this tensioner directly.

Yes that one was a problem for many bikes and because of that , Hyosung updated them silently. Those tensioners had a high failure rate, so i made that tutorial to warn others indeed.
I think it is because in 2007-2010, those tensioners had bad springs inside (if i remember correctly) but they updated them to use a better spring inside , around after 2012 (circa).

Thanks for the reply. What do you recommend as a replacement? Can I get the new parts from your store, or could you tell me where to buy them? I’ve been looking for Hyosung sources or distributors; I actually bought some tensioners that turned out to be too small after waiting three weeks. Can I return them? Hyosung Korea just tells me to check their catalog, so I picked a model compatible with the GV125, but they can’t seem to tell me exactly which part fits my 2009 bike… Thanks in advance.
