SUP! Fresh Hyo rider here
Got a TE450 with 2500km on the clock, runs great and all but damn it is slow for a 450!
The internet states everywhere that it has 52hp. But on the registration papers it says 13.4 kw (18hp~) according to my math..
So my big question is, does these quads have any form of limitations? Maybe Limited CDI unit or maybe even some exhaust restrictions?
Anybody in here that has any experience with these quads LET ME KNOW! 😂 please 🙏🏼

Go on the carb , remove it and see if there is a “throttle plate” attached to stop bike going full throttle (some EU countries have restrictions until rider upgrades license)
Or take it to a DYNO shop , and tell us the real power made, the guy will also look around for any restrictions added by previous owner to limit its power. Usually its the throttle , carbs , and exhaust and intake restricted.
It’s not possible to restrict Korea’s CDI’s.
If it is EFi , yes it is possible to fine tune it but it has to be DELPHI ECU only. Older ECU’s on EFI bikes are too difficult.

Thanks, very useful!!
seems like you know a lot about Hyo’s unlike me.. internet info really is thin on these! Especially the TE450
do you by any chance know which oils it takes? It says 10w40 on the clutch cover oil cap but thats all i know. But which oil does the engine oil reservoir take? :/

No problem,
I recommend Motul 7100 Ester Grade oil , it is best oil for Hyosungs and the second alternative i trust is Silkolene Pro 4 Ester Grade oil
You can check out the other info in the service book (click this link here)
Hope this helps

Thanks! That manual is great!
Just filles out the 2 small holes in the top of the up/down sliding throttle valve in the carburetor. LORD HAVE MERCY ON THEM REAR TYRES FROM NOW ON
It was CRAZY restricted in the carburetor.. now it flies but i need to downjet a bit. I’ve found out that it is a Mikuni PD42J model carb (same as Yamaha YFM660 etc.) Where to buy main jets for this carb? Can’t find ANYTHING in my country?
is it just a regular 5mm main jet? Can’t find any info on that either?!
and do you know if this bike uses the same oil in gearbox and oil reservoir/motor? Or does it need gearbox oil in one spot and motoroil somewhere else? Never really worked on 4 strokes, only inline fours in cars 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

ever tried a yamaha local dealer for the jets? cant just use random jets as the carb has soft threads. easy to damage them.
the service manual should have a page that talks about what oils and anti freeze to use in engine and how many litres
