  Hi all. I have a 2012 650S. When I try to start the bike the starter spins but will not turn the engine over. It wasnt sounding right the last few time is kicked over. I have a new battery and have had the start tested So I dont think its a electrical issue. Pretty sure its machanical. The pinon gear is turning but is not driving the starter mechanism. And input would be greatly appriciated

  Sounds like the sprag clutch behind the flywheel has gone. (I hope not)
  
  But open the magneto casing, then remove the flywheel carefully, look at the sprag clutch , if its ok, it could be due to missing teeth on the “Flywheel Sprocket”
