Howdy from Texas!
I was recently traded a 2006 GV650 for some car mechanical work and I’m so stoked to get it running! I’ve always wanted a motorcycle and free is music to my ears. The issue is, I’m not sure when it last ran or what issues it might have. I bought a new battery to start and the panel lit up so at least it’s getting some juice. But there was no noise to indicate the engine was turning over, I tried to turn it on but it made zero start up noise. I checked the levels and the oil was practically zero, the brake fluid was super low and the coolant seemed low but fine. It didn’t have any gas in it so I just assumed it was a combination of all those things.
I went to go work on it this morning and I am stumped. I had removed the fuel tank prior and forgot to take a picture of where the hoses connect so now I’m lost as to which hose goes where. I’ve looked up service manuals, looked at posts on this forum and YouTube for some guidance but frankly, I’m so lost. I also was studying the carb compared to a YouTube video I found and it looks like the hoses aren’t connect or connected wrong? I took some pictures so hopefully y’all can help me get this thing running because this bike is BEAUTIFUL and I’d love to restore it to its old glory.
Here’s an Imgur link to the hoses I’m confused with… https://imgur.com/a/Ap2GHa1
I appreciate any and all input!

Howdy!
Looks like you got a nice land rocket , we hope to see its revival on the forum too 🙂
Judging by your pictures:
1. The black ones going to the 3-way unit called the Fuel Pump = It will need some clamps / jubilee clips just to avoid fuel leaks, as hoses may swell a little bit under heat.I will annotate each image you posted below:
2x Black Holes under the tank == Get a 1 meter hose and put it there , this hose goes to the rear tyre , suspension linkage= This is “overflow / breather” , it looks missing. And if you overspill or bike falls (God forbid, that overflow hose could drain the fuel away to the rear tyre , instead of it dripping all over a hot engine and if the coils were arc’ing , that’s an explosion waiting to happen.
Fuel Tap = Small Nipple is for the vacuum and the big port is for fuel towards the fuel filter yes. Make sure to clamp/jubilee clip that port too.

Yes you’re correct that goes to the tank’s fuel tap.

Yes those thin lines are basically vacuum feeds coming from the rubber intake neck boots at the engine cylinders where carbs swallow themselves into.
Also you will 100% need a new fuel filter there, so replace it while it’s apart:

Look at the hole again, if its blanked by the factory, then no need to worry about it. Otherwise it is either Vacuum Feed or “Overflow to the Ground/Road”

This cut hose that looks pointy at the end is mostly likely the “over-flow to the road” , if bike falls on its side or the floats get jammed open, extra fuel will gushing out to the road to save pistons being flooded. Also acts as breather when needed.

Arrow ⬇️ Left black hose , this is “incoming filtered fuel” (so the tank and fuel filter send fuel down this hose as Entry to the pump)
Grey Spring Coil Pipe = > “🅿️” mark on the vacuum pump means “pulse” , aka vacuum as the pump works in a pulsating fashion. So make sure that spring coiled hose is getting vacuum from the engine’s rubber intake neck boots or make anoter T-junction to join the rest of the vacuum lines on the bike.
Arrow ➡️ == right black hose ==> Fuel pumped out towards the carb. This is the fuel that’s leaving the pump going to the carbs.
The pump has also 2 more arrows facing down to the road, ignore them as they have been factory blanked off.

Hope this helps!

Thank you SO much for this! At first I was a little lost with two of the hoses but after reading your reply a few more times it all made sense and I can’t wait to get back to working on the bike!!
Also, I had found a length of hose that was nestled over the coolant reservoir which I thought was just someone who didn’t care enough to reconnect a hose but it turns out… I’m that someone 😂 I must’ve disconnected it and it’s the hose you were saying I should buy a meter of and allow to rear/suspension linkage.
Hopefully this is all I needed to do and I can get it running and road ready soon!

Hello again!
I’m back with new discoveries and a new conundrum. After scratching my head for a few days I realized the confusion was an emissions evap canister was installed onto the bike and made routing the vacuum lines a real pain to figure out but I found another helpful video that showed me where I was going wrong. I removed the canister and now it looks like every other GV650 I’ve seen being worked on and like the pictures in the service manuals. Now comes the part where I’m confused again. It connected to the bottom of the air cleaner box by way of a vacuum hose but I have no idea where this hose originally connected.
The cut hose on this eBay listing is the hose I’m referring to. On the evap canister, it connected to air cleaner box from the vacuum hose at the very top of the canister. The other octopus of hoses were randomly hooked up wherever which I think was overcomplicating the vacuum system and confusing me even more.
Any guidance would be super appreciated!
