Sep 1, 2025 at 1:20 PM #20637Bike Model = : GT250R 2012
Hey, I’ve acquired a beautiful GT250R last month, and for my first modification I’m looking at making my presence a bit more known. The bike is far too silent for my liking, people don’t really hear me coming and I need them to.
I’m looking to know if anyone here has had any experience with slip-on exhausts for example SC replicas or M4 replicas, or really just any other ebay ~40 buck slip on. All the other exhausts are just too expensive for a simple slip-on, the bike has already left my wallet dry, and I just need the bike a bit more rowdy. Slip-ons are simply cosmetic, right? They don’t affect the engine output whatsoever, right? That’s from the mid-pipe onwards correct? I will still be keeping the cat and just getting a rowdier slip on.
Thank you all beforehand and I must say this is a pretty cool community you guys got going on here. I’m not sure how to post photos but I do want to share my bike, I can’t find these exact fairings absolutely anywhere. Not sure if I got some rare model.

Hey , upload a photo here as a test , there should be a bright yellow box above the reply box showing a tutorial link for picture uploads.
And show us the exhaust in particular ?
EFI bikes need a balance: sound + performance.
Instead of a very short โstraight throughโ muffler:
Look for a slip-on designed for EFI bikes, tuned to maintain some backpressure while increasing volume.
Some aftermarket mufflers give a nice growl without killing midrange torque.
Avoid removing DB killers entirely. Some aftermarket options include removable baffles for track-only use.In other words , as i have leaned over the years Black Widow Exhausts that are 400mm always gave the best sound and balance or Lextek OP1 350m long cans . EFI bikes need some backpressureโsuper short slip-ons can make them run lean and lose midrange torque. Keep a DB killer and use an EFI-friendly slip-on: louder sound without killing performance. Those fake akras are just “annoying” loud , but a proper slip on from the likes of Black Widow , 2Brothers USA (rare) , MTC , HAWK in my own experience have been excellent.
I also modified the baffle so that the overal hole size is about the size of a 10p british coin (forgot dimensions) , as an exit-hole too big in the DB killer meant it felt “flat” riding it , but too narrow is not good either. I experimented a lot , though my old previous bike was the Kawasaki ZZR400 , it did not care what exhaust it had (for the most part) as it makes its power much higher up (screaming inline 4!) , the twins on Hyosungs both GTs and GVs i own really prefer the torque at the early revs not to be disturbed , the GV was more frustrating but i am digressing.
The stock cans on all hyos are too heavy! – You could get a tiny acceleration gain (very tiny) but shaving off the weight by switching to”road legal , performance exhausts” , if it helps check ebay UK and find BSAU stamped exhausts (BSAU generally meaning for road use) but just loud enough to get noticed! – In UK , if an exhaust is too loud , the inspectors (MOT Test) will fail the bike if the guy hates it and issues papers to the owner to change it (before he can ride on the road legally again) we have to get our bikes checked every 12 months to make sure the bike is “road worthy” , but exhaust noise is just one of them, though some harleys are very loud and still get away with but i am digressing , its 10pm as i write this haha, i think my brain is going ๐
Hope my un-organized reply helps ?

Here’s my baby. I got it off the dealership last month, 18k miles on it, seems to have never been dropped, and is in perfect shape, insane for a 13 year old bike hehe.
Here in Portugal we don’t really have those restrictions, everyone has loud pipes. The cops don’t care and there’s no scheduled mandatory inspections for bikes unless you get told to have one by authorities, which, they normally only do when they really want to mess you up. But either ways, you can just swap the exhausts/mods back in and ur good to go. Just a pain in the ass really
About the exhaust, I really don’t know yet, I was looking at maybe an M4 replica, which are slightly smaller (exit end wise, they also come with a removable db killer i believe) and less obnoxious than just the cans. I was also looking at the toce replica but there’s a dude on Youtube that tried this and the bike was just so goddamn loud ๐๐, either ways I need to get rid of it, it’s also too close to the passenger pegs and the surrounding heat it produces almost melts toenails (jk)
I just don’t want to spend much on it other than maybe a new LED headlight and a new exhaust. The previous owner has already done a bunch of stuff, fender eliminator with integrated LED rear turn signals, and also the front turn signals, they look 10x better than the OEM ones. I don’t love the stealth mirrors but I just generally dislike mirrors as a whole on bikes, especially OEM ones. If it were legal I’d ride mirrorless, helps me keep the attention on 100% ๐, I’m also in the dead center of a populated city so the stealth mirrors make lane filtering sooo much better
But yeah I’ll need to look further into these exhausts.. Is there any commonly designated keyword for EFI friendly exhausts?
Thanks guys, and thanks @Marcel

Just stumbled upon a “Snell Boost Titanium Universal Silencer”, can’t find much about this snell brand, i assume it’s not the same that does the helmet certifications, however this XLMoto website seems pretty tight and I am in need of riding gloves so I might just kill 2 birds with 1 stone. And I do love the look of this exhaust. It’s not the average straight through cans of metal, seems pretty solid. What do you think? It’s probably chinese but some of the premium chinese ๐
I would love to get the MTC one, but, it’s just way too over my budget.
Also, about the headlights, I was thinking of swapping out my upper headlight H1 bulb with an H4 LED. Question is, will it fit ? I want to swap them because look at how insanely dim and dangerous the lights I’m currently rocking with (look at image below). Do you know if its a simple rewiring switch? The H3 halogen bulb on the bottom works 10% of times. I need to work on my lights!! Any suggestions? I’ve seen that the H4 led offers a powerful light, which is what I want.

It seems to have a bit too much of the free flow ur talking about, other variants of this exhaust i think eliminate this problem, but, either ways, for knowledge sake :P, how could i compensate this unexpected free flow? Maybe a tune, or removing the O2 sensors from the pipe entirely?

The cheapest “premium” chinese can you can get that is GOOD (personally the only china can i like) is LEXTEK 350mm exhaust , go to Lextek’s website and get their 350-450mm exhausts (the longer the better)
Man that is a CLEAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNn bike, don’t drop her! Wow.
Good question on lights, personally leave it Halogen , 99% of LED lights are china made and ofcourse they won’t fit as their heads are too bulky for the GTR shells.
Until Osram & Philips the 2 top EU brands of bulb makers invent a road certified LED for bikes, i would stick with halogen. They do make LED for certain cars (ie. Audi R8) but on bikes there is no LED bulbs for them yet. Sometimes the chinese LED’s are “bright and glaring” , you want a light that is brighter but not painful to your oncoming road users
Get Osram Nightbreaker LASER and Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs , these are the peak of the halogen tech.
