Hi guys, thought id start another post pertaining to my next issues ive discovered on my project.
In a more positive note at least, and after doing a tonne of work on it already, I recently loaded my bike into my van and took it to my local ridersafe training ground to give it a gentle shake down. It was only for about half an hour or so but I wanted to see that all my work so far is holding up. All is good as far as that goes but now that ive actually ridden it ive discovered 2 more issues.
First one is the speed reading. Its showing zero for most part but flashes up random numbers occasionally. Some numbers are hilarious actually! I would of been doing around 40-50kmh at the most when I was doing a brake test but saw some interesting numbers flash up! Funnily enough the readings are more frequent when im reversing on foot. I saw a hilarious 286kmh flash up at one point! 🤣. Anyway, i take it that the speed sensor is very faulty and needs replacing!?
Issue two is finding neutral is very difficult. Pulling up to a stop in first gear, the gear leaver feels really stiff and doesn’t release first gear very well. Most of the time it just goes into second. Turning the engine off seems to make it easier but you shouldn’t have to do that. Most normal bikes like the street triple 675rx and cbr600rr i had recently required just a gentle half pull and they would snick straight into neutral. Some causes that I can think of from experience is bad oil and clutch drag from a incorrectly adjusted clutch cable. Ive changed the oil recently and already adjusted the slack out of the cable and set to factory specs and its still really hard. Im going to remove the cable and lubricate it and all moving parts pertaining to the clutch actuation and see if that helps. I know that this poor old girl had been sitting for quite a while before I got her running so maybe taking the clutch apart and giving the friction discs a good soak in fresh oil might help reduce drag.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated 👍

Oh, I failed to mention that the dash is intermittently showing FI along with the red FI light. Its intermittent and not permanent. Goes away when the bike is shut off but starts again when moving. I believe its caused by the faulty speed sensor?

Can you get an error code out of the ECU ?
