Hi revs showing

Put newly charged battery in the bike and it started up ok , but the revs were showing high but the bike was ticking over , same when i took it out for a ride , steady 65 -70 but the rev counter was showing near the red line but the running bike was no where near that , any help would be greatly received as its got its mot on thursday and its a 650 , cheers

If it’s a fuel injected one check the clock connections at the back also any connections from the coils, the coil check also on carb bikes.

Battery back out , charged and ready to go back in but will wait until thursday before the mot
