Jul 12, 2025 at 3:38 PM #19999Bike Model = : GD 250R
Hello everyone! I’m a new rider and this is my first bike (GD250R). I’m finding the aggressive riding position a bit challenging, but my goal is to eventually be able to ride it all over the country (I’m based in Ireland).
I’m wondering if it’s possible to install handlebar risers on this bike myself. If so, what parts would I need, and where can I order them from? I’ve called all the mechanic shops in my town, but none of them are willing to do it for me 😅. So it’s either I figure it out myself or just stick with the clip-ons.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated 🙏.

Can you show me a picture of your current GD250R ?
Hyosung either uses a Flat Yoke Top or a Diamond Shape Yoke (which can make things tricky!)
Click “Add Media” the green button above your text-white space as you reply. And upload it directly here.
Welcome to the forum & to the Hyosung world 🙂

Hello Marcel, thank you for replying! I’m thrilled to be part of this community. I couldn’t figure out the media button 😅. Here is my Drive link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1p6OXX878rAz4bd2eK6X4qFPoYs7WMIHg?usp=drive_link. I’ve uploaded two images there. I can upload more or even a video if needed. Thank you again for your help, really appreciate it 😄.

Is there anyone local in Ireland who is breaking a GD250 NAKED , so you can get its top yoke and risers ? It will be easier getting a naked version.
Sorry if the Add Media button was confusing, did it come up with an error or ? Or is it too clunky for phone use. I will take any feedback to design it myself (i am 100% going to renovate the site later in the year so its more simplistic to navigate around)
Regards
If you must use your current setup , remove the clip ons and be warned:
- You may need longer brake hose
- longer clutch cable & throttle cable possibly
- Find a local breaker and get “2005-2016” GV125/GV250 risers that fit 22mm bars (MUST be this specific year range)
- Drill 1 hole each side, you may run in to trouble , so do it very cautiously or pray we can find a spare yoke to test things. (GD or GDR)
GVs use one bolt risers per side and are much higher than chinesium ones. It is the top yoke we have to worry about giving us a small flat section to sit them on.

Hello again Marcel,
Thanks for looking into the media button on the website. It might’ve just been me who couldn’t upload it properly, lol. I didn’t see a green button even on my PC—just an “Add Media” button that asked for a sorce URL? So I linked my drive which I thought would be quicker in that case.
Good news! I found loads of top yokes for the GV 125/R50 (2005–2016) on eBay, all with riser mounts pre-installed, and they ship to my address. Here’s a link to one — it’s a GV 125 2013 top yoke: [Link]. Do you think will this one work for me?
Thanks for the guidance again.

Did you click “Upload Tab” as soon as the “Add Media” window pops up.
Then it asks to upload directly to the site, instead of asking for a “sourcel URL”
let me know.

Also this one below is cheap, just remove the “risers” , and ditch the silver yoke away as it wont fit your bike, or sell it back locally if need be. Or use it to test something before installing on your GD

Hi Marcel,
Sorry for the late reply – it’s been a busy week!
I had a look at the link you sent, but unfortunately, that item doesn’t ship to Ireland from the UK.
Before ordering a similar one that does deliver to Ireland, I got in touch with Hyosung Customer Care. They suggested that using a Top Yoke from a GD250N would be a great way to raise the handlebars, especially since I’m not too confident with drills. It’s around €90, and for a newbie like me, it seems like a solid deal to get proper handlebar risers from Hyosung directly.
What do you think – does that sound like a good idea?
Thanks!

What I did.._
Old and grumpy,(?), have fairly wide engine & tuning experience, "restoring/resto-mod" on cars & mc, worked as electronic tech. (retired).
GT125R - sold. New (used): 2012-GT250R-efi (sold)+ 2017-GV-125C (sold) - got my old 2018-GT-125R back... 🙂

Hey Cobra, Thanks for the help.
Did you drill holes in the top yoke to install the handlebar mounts?

What website is that , as you have to becareful certain websites will take your cash and run.
As for eBay , that’s weird. That’s my own listing, it should say “global shipping” on it ? handled by ebay themselves , if not message me on ebay and i will edit the listing.
Cobra just simply drilled the holes, (same as what Korea does on GT and GTR bikes , as they share the same yoke.
GD-N is probably pre-drilled as they need to use taller bars anyway and rise the rider to an upright position.
