I have a 2008 Gv650. I checked for spark, it has spark. I cleaned the carburetors. Starter fluid works but doesn’t keep the bike running. The bike only has not even 700 miles on it. What could be the issue?

That low mileage would indicate to me that it’s had fuel sitting in it for prolonged periods so the carbs are going to be gummed up & in need of cleaning.

As per simon.
Also replace or investigate the “fuel tap” (that’s in the tank) and also the “fuel pump” that is on the frame. How did you clean the carbs ?
usually after sitting that long, 2 sessions of ultrasonic bathing does big wonders

I only used carb cleaner in a can. I’m not sure what ultrasonic cleaning is. I’ll YouTube it.

I checked the taps and fuel pump already. They’re working fine. Fuel is making it to the carbs. I also checked for spark. It’s getting spark. I haven’t replaced the plugs due to me observing it gets spark. I’m not sure if that could be an issue. When I set the idle screw I turned 2 1/2 out. Which most carbs are. Not sure if that can be a issue but its as before I cleaned the carbs. No difference. Starter fluid let’s it run for maybe 2 to 3 secs before dying back out. I’m still stuck staring at the bike in frustration because it doesn’t even have 1000 miles on it yet. Any and all suggestions will help

Does the starter solenoid play any role in the bike actually running. Are there any parts that would keep the bike from running. (Any sort of kill switch) or engine demobilizers?

It sounds stupid , but is there any chance you can get a compression tester and use the “METAL ROD” not the flexi hose.
And crank the bike for 5 seconds with both spark plugs out and full throttle.
Check what PSI each engine head makes ? on a cold state.
