      Hi all!

I’m having a little trouble finding the answers I need. I have bought a GT250R engine, converting it to take a carb and then putting it in my GV125 (carby) frame. I have been advised I need a 2004 – 2008 flywheel. But why is that? If anyone can explain I would be really grateful, I can’t find any answers online.

Also I can’t find a CDI. Any suggestions on what to use? I have the 6 prong GV125 one at the moment. Thanks! I’m debating on redoing all wiring to be honest. So advise on the harness would also be greatly appreciated.

I should add that I am aware the stator coils are different for efi and carb, but why that specific? Are there any diagrams online I can view? If they are I can’t seem to find them

I assume you got your answers already by now , but i will say Korea doesn’t always like things to mix and match or attempting to cross breed everything

Even with EFI,  the  250 and 650cc have about 5 variations of harnesses and ECU’s!   So even a 2008 EFI won’t fire up with a 2016 ECU simply because stators changed, pulse timings changed, different pressure pumps, and all the like, it’s a whole deep world of its own.   Carby is easier to maintain ,  EFI is snappy & instantenous

      Hi Marcel,

Yes I have now haha! I must be annoying you something mega by now. I’m finding it fascinating and loving all the little obstacles i need to get over. Hence the What, how and why questions. You’ve been instrumental in guiding, advising and helping me with this project. I could not have gone this far without you.

Also please do tell me to bugger off and leave you alone if I am annoying you, I won’t be offended (I know it can be extremely annoying, my brain ticks a lil differently if you get me XD). But if it makes you feel any better the questions I ask are when google, forums and other sources come up dry. It is not my intention to p**s off the best hyo docs in the country… dare I say the world haha! Take it easy buddy

Stay in the club and ask away ,  least our public replies will help others coming across similar issues of anything.

be sure to do a project journal 😉
