- ⚡ Bike Model: 2005 Hyosung GT650R Comet
Bike Model = : 2005/6 GT650R CometHi everyone.
I have recently bought a 2005/6 G650R Comet and found there to be no spark on both cylinders.
The bike came without a Regulator Rectifier so I purchased the oem one brand new and stuck it in. After installing it I have no spark whatsoever on both cylinders. Has anyone got any tips on resolving this issue if they’ve ever experienced it.
I do also have a brand new CDI in it as well. The flatter one of them all.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey
Can you check your coils for primary and secondary resistance?
Or
Go to any bike shop or junk-yard and get “SUZUKI SV650 1999” (must be 99 only) and use their coils.
SV650 1999 and GT650 Hyosung carb both use the same Mitsubishi Japan coils , but suzuki is more common, so you will be able to find it easier, make sure it is from a working bike.
Also the “PLUG CAPS” crack a lot in hyosung and they stop your coils sending sparks to the spark plug, so also get SV650 1999 Plug Caps too.
or check that your Hyosung plug caps have resistance (between 3,000 to 25,000 ohms) (without the coils attached to them)
Also, check your stator , if its dead, you will get no sparks. Click below to lean how to check your stator

Yes the topic says “GT125R” , but the rules are the same for GT650

It might be something as simple as the side stand switch or the clutch switch

Hi ChezneyCamden, my first guess would be ignition coils, as Marcel said. They are easy to swap.
Simon says it may be side-stand switch or clutch switch, which are also easy enough to replace.
If my headlights are ON, it will not let me start my bike. If the side-stand goes down while engine running, bike will turn off.
I’d be suprised if the STATOR is not working but it’s possible. The original stators are pretty good.
The chinese aftermarket Stators are not good – their rubber GROMMET DOES NOT stop OIL from pouring out of the stator cover.
I have 2x old, used original stators and they work fine. The NEW chinese one caused me a lot of frustration.IF the bike hasn’t RUN for a long time, put it IN GEAR (1st or 2nd) then rock the bike very slightly forwards bit by bit – just little, light pushes.
This will turn the engine over bit by bit & help lubricate it a bit for when you do start it.
Very easy to do, takes only 30 seconds, won’t get your hands dirty but it’s good to move the pistons up & down if they haven’t been.
Good luck.-----LaserBeam---->
