Following about a 4 week period when my EFI GT250 remained idle in my garage, yesterday I decided to take it for a ride when I encountered the following issue.
My bike is always sluggish to start but once it gets going it idles properly at about 1700RPM. After riding without a hitch for more than 30 mins I needed to stop at a stop sign when the engine settled at an idle speed of about 2200RPM. I continued riding for a further 15 mins but when I stopped again idle speed ranged between 2000 and 2500. I am sure that the throttle bar is not sticking.I switched off the engine and restarted immediately. The high idling speed remained. After a further 10 mins riding I switched off the engine for a minute or two. When I restarted engine speed returned to 1700. This issue repeated a couple of times but when I eventually returned home the engine idled properly with no further issues.
The issue of fast idling has happened to me at least twice in the past 2 years but previously high idling happened briefly and only once during the ride.
Any ideas please?

Under the tank on the left hand side are 2 connector blocks I’m pretty certain you have a bad connection there, just need a clean them & it should be fine, I had the same issue tried everything then realised that one of those connectors is where the ecu gets the signal from the coil to set the idle control solinode to the right position not had the issue again.

Under the tank, on the left hand side there are 2 connectors one of which is certainly the connector for an O2 sensor (second Photo). A bit further back (first photo)under the front seat there are at least 4 white, “cheap”, connectors one of which seems to be coming from the charging coil area. Are you perhaps referring to the latter group?

Certainly clean every connector you can find, check if there are other connections near the front of the tank almost hidden by the air box on the left hand side looking from the back.
