I have read many threads about CDI replacement with a Suzuki SV 650 ( 1st GEN Carbs 99-02 ). I can confirm pin layout is identical . The Suzuki has throttle position, which the Hyosung can ignore . I have not read that anyone had success. I got this blue cool chromey looking bike sitting here ( Western Canada ) with a shorted CDI. The replacement cost is very unattractive . Many old Suzuki Sv 650 in nearby bone yards.

Would you be comfortable taking the SV motor + electrics + harness ? (Work involved⚠️) then putting it in the frame?
I have not used an SV650 cdi but i suspect the two engines will not have the same cam shaft timings as each other. Or that the cdi expects a hyosung cdi
I suspect if SV worked Hyosung would not need to make their own as they did help make the SV on some parts but to Suzuki’s own requirements

Super thanks, Marcel !!! That may be the reason I did not find success stories on this. Just got the thing. Not running , of course !! Figured , I how much can there be wrong with it. Surely did not want to sink another $600 (CA)into it. Then , there is the question of durability of this devise. Good thing I got my 650 vstrom. It has never acted up. sofar, anyway.
