Spring is here and it is time to bike again. After a recent ride I took these photos to show my failing chrome. Bought bike with bad chrome and need to tidy it.
My shocks (worst pictured) are awful and really let the bike down. Has anyone fitted replacement shocks? Any recommendations?
I have thought about compressing springs and dismantling shock to paint the spring black but decided new is better as want the chrome look.
Also my lower fork cover are looking poor. The chrome is pitted and missing in places so it just rusts instantly. I have an idea here. I am going to remove them, paint and smooth them and the cover in chrome vinyl car wrap. Will post results.
I got the idea to wrap the covers from thinking about how to sort the grill on my Austin Maxi 1976. As you can see the grill chrome is shot.
Other planned GV125 upgrades include Marcel’s coils, rectifier and plugs. Plus a screen from Ebay.
Fingers crossed in a few weeks she will be very bright and shiny.

Check my ebay fella, as i do have some shocks and fork covers
but sadly, they aint new, but will have way less pitting than the ones you have.if push comes to shove, you can always send me a sales email and ill quote you the cost of the new shocks for the back and new fork covers. Bare in mind sometimes shocks come in black. Happens with GV650 from factory too. Chrome is a nice touch tbh!

Decided to get more chrome and paint shocks.
It is second hand, the only sore point is the nearest indicator.
Painted shock for now. Yes she needs a clean, that is this weekend. Good old smooth hammerite.
Have ordered new fork covers from South Korea. Just a front blinker bar to go and get the wheels and yoke polished.
But disaster has struck. I broke down will explain in another post.
