So here I am in 7 degree weather trying to remove the seat since I’m bored. And I think the lock is broken it’s not frozen because I tried when I got the bike and it was above freezing and it just turns a little bit the seat cable doesn’t release. But it doesn’t do a full turn. Any way to get the seat off easily if I have to ill drill it out next week with the plans of replacing it as well as my ignition because I want 2 keys and the key isn’t the greatest in the ignition. My main goal is to take the seat off and the tank when I start tearing into the carbs and tune everything so everything can get a good cleaning. Sorry rambling. Gonna start printing out all the tutorials while I wait for today to warm up. But probably won’t start really wrenching till Monday or Tuesday as it’ll be above freezing.

Hey,
You could snatch this up as a backup!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256233552285Send me a PM to access the seat another as we talking security matters – Make the subject “Key Access” , i will respond , once the seat situation is resolved , i will close the PM chat and come back here.
Otherwise , try these:
– Spray WD40 with a straw inside the key hole – It is flameable , so please be wise not to let it spray to the engine or electronics. Definitely do not spray the “Ignition Key”– To keep the “Ignition Key” and “Fuel Cap” lubed , spray a little aerosol can with a straw of this product called “ACF50” , this only – Ignore everything else on the market.
– After the WD40 is inside the keylock for the seat for maybe 1 day , then use a “leaf blower” or “hair drier ON COLD setting” to blow off any debris inside the hole
- Then try the key ? – Don’t twist to hard, as the key can snap away & rest will be swallowed inside (if it is your only key)
- You might want to go to a local smith and get it duplicated (I will tell you what key it is based on what we discusss in private) incase you want to access the seat another way in private ofcourse. I wouldn’t want to expose you or anything on security matters.

I’ll try that stuff Monday or Tuesday and if it doesn’t work I’ll pm you about the other methods. Thanks a million.

I did end up getting the seat off and messing with it the key just doesn’t work in that part so I’m gonna replace because I think it’s the lock cylinder itself. I got all the parts working but it just seems to far gone. One to the good news I got the air filter and carbs off the bike. Carbs look pretty good just waiting on ordering a rebuild kit. I did start the bike before removing everything just to see if I could hear anything so at least I know it runs now. Will throw in some pics of the bike apart and a running video. Did find a mouse nest so also took care of that.

No running video file size is too large. But here is the stuff I did today.

Good lord!☠😬 How long has that bike been sitting unused for ?
Im amazed the rodents didn’t chew the wires and die of the shocks ,
If the bike runs today, i guess you can celebrate! – Rarely do we see that in UK and the bike is alive , usually its a full rebuild as soon as its found in some old barn years later! 😯😱😲

supposedly it was run over the summer. We get really cold winters so honestly it doesn’t take long for rodents to find way into things. But I’m assuming no one ever checked. I always check never assume that a rodent hasn’t been in to things and tear a bike apart when I get it. Tomorrow I’m going through the carb surprised how clean it was when I checked gonna have to adjust float levels because I was told it flooded front cylinder. So I’m tearing it down entirely looking everything over to determine if it needs to be rebuilt. Clean twice then I’ll blow air through it and repeat the process till I’m happy. And then I’ll put her back together and decide what I have to do next aside from oil change/and tuneup. But overall still pretty happy with it. I wish someone didn’t drill out the baffles so I’m watching some exhaust systems on eBay to try and get it back to stock.
